Dear all

Firstly thanks to all for valuable information.

Background:
Father no Double sc offer, mother has double sc offer. Mother 140sc short of SG and father 5sc over SG. Both have gone from NB this membership year ending in July. Did warn my father last year after coming on a JASA to HBA with me, that once in J hard going back.

JASA booked in Feb '12

Overnight 9/6 accomodation booked in HBA
They where going on a JASA weekend away to HBA and I was taking my baby sister with my family to OOL/BNE that weekend.

JASA booked for 9/6 CBR-SYD-HBA, then 10/6 HBA-SYD-CBR netting 200sc

QF e-mailed to say QF704 CBR-SYD 9:55am(737-400) flight cancelled and put them on QF872(737-800) 7:30am flight.
This will now mean a 6hour wait in the SYD J lounge before connecting onto QF1019 to HBA
No J availablity showing for QF872 and their seat selection dropped off.

Question 1.
If they keep current QF amended booking and do not sit in J (737-800 has only 12 J seats from the potential 40 J pax from the 2 cancelled 737-400 flights that day) what compensation could they get, if any? Also paid for J but if travel in whY sc would be given as 10 not 40 for that sector?

Option 2.
have QF change booking to another weekend of their choice and change hotel accomodation to suit. Explain to QF SYD based and now unable to meet new 7:30am CBR flight.

option 3.
Cancel whole JASA due to flight change for cash + full points refund. Now book Jetstar SYD-HBA for $69 and book a JASA HBA-SYD-CBR netting mother 200sc(exceeding 700sc for Gold) and father 100sc(now 250sc over Gold) and save 32,000points on not required JASA. change accomodation to suit.

The stat run person in my says go for option 3 and save the points for another JASA later and take advantage of double sc offer.
I took my father on a JASA to HBA last year and he really enjoyed this, I am going down next month with brother inlaw for the day so I will retain SG and he will get SG.

I look forward to any experiences/answers to question 1 and which way you would go as to keep amended booking/move booking to another weekend/cancel and rebook as a status run.

Thanks

Not sure of their booking class, but it was booked as a JASA for 26,000 odd at the time. They did slide it down to 16,000 points plus $98. Both are currently QF Silver with my father going to SG today.

Sorry still shows J but unable to select seats, was told by QF once father has Gold can possibly select seats.

If you look their booking up on www.qantas.com/yourbooking you would see the fare class beside each segment - hopefully "(U)".

U booking class is the award/upgrade ticketing class within Business. So if their etickets say U class, they are definitely sitting in the Business cabin.
