Now that SIA have canned their SIN-JFK direct, apparently the longest non-stop commercial flight is now QF, SYD-DFW, QF7...

I will be doing this in a few weeks, according to my docs their is only 1 meal + snacks served in the 15 hour flight.

Is this correct? 1 meal in 15 hours. Can anyone confirm. Thanks....

Did this flight in August - there is two meal services (dinner and breakie) and they provide a bag of snacks. If you like biscuits after the lights go out head to the back of the plane - in the toilet corridor (yes I know bad place to put it) - is the self serve biscuits - rather yummy.

As per the replies from Blackcat20 & Deejo77, don't worry!...

If you are in Y, you will get a substantial hot meal with drinks - non alcoholic plus alcoholic - within a couple of hours of takeoff from SYD. Maybe even an offer of beverages beforehand. Also beverages after the meal.

Then hot chocolate, apples, icecream & other food offerings over the next few hours.
if you are hungry, there are self serve cabinets at the rear of Y with biscuits, fruit, mueslie bars, chocolate, water, etc. cabin crew will walk through around each 45 minutes to offer water throughout the flight.

A few hours before landing you will get a hot breakfast.

If you are in PE / J, as above, with more choices, and hot focaccia & other offerings during the night.

At home, consider what time you have dinner, then breakfast .. Wouldn't be unusual for many folk to have 9 hours between meals? Don't worry, you won't starve.

And when you get to DFW,customs & immigration formalities can be quite fast, & if you are connecting to other flights there are quite a few nice eateries in the airport. If you are on AA or UA in Y, there are substantial foods for purchase on board.

They can also be quite slow. With my two experiences it took nearly two hours the first time and almost an hour the second time to get back aside after landing.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

I seem to recall a midnight pizza being served in Y!

Does anyone know why Y+ doesn't get the little snack bag that you get in Y? I actually like the ability to have something small there if I wake without bothering the flight attendant and last QF7 I did, this never came. There were also no offerings throughout the night as mentioned (like pizza!).

Anyways! For the OP - ordinarily, you won't go hungry. Lunch/dinner, snacks and breakfast.

And my experience with immigration through DFW was slow, slow, slow. A great number of people were missing connections and I would have been tight with mine had it not been delayed. The gentleman in front of me was pretty upset at how long it was taking to get through the line and spoke about it to me for at least 45 minutes (quite possibly a member on here as we was certainly a frequent flyer :D).

I catch a connection (AA) at DFW to MIA so hopefully wont have to clear Immigration at DFW.

You will need to clear immigration to connect to the MIA flight so allow enough time. Maybe 3 hours? Transitting DFW is very efficient with the Skytrain.

I did this flight in Y back in August. It's a long way but with the updated entertainment system & seating the flight is about as good as Y gets.

And yes, got the late night pizza.

My flight home on QF8 wasn't too good a week later, google 'Qantas flight from hell'.

Because Y+, like J, should have some self-serve snacks available in the galley, as well as something slightly more substantial like a focaccia that can be ordered from an FA.

Yeah read about that QF flight in August.
It is a long-haul and with a PER-SYD prior and a DFW-MIA following its going to be close to 30 hours total.

If you have the time & can amend your ticket, stay overnight at DFW & head over to MIA the next day. americanairlines.com.au has the DFW Hyatt Regency for $100/night.

Huge hotel 1980s style hotel with renovated rooms, great beds. 5 min van ride from terminal D.

Even though you are going on to MIA once you arrive in DFW. You will have to clear immigration and customs. You then collect you suitcases and just walk them a short distance to the guys loading them
on to the AA domestic conveyor belt, this is all assuming that your suitcases have been tagged through to MIA.
Also make sure you leave enough time between arriving DFW and your flight connection to MIA. Qantas lands in T5 and you might be departing from another terminal and hence you will need to also jump on the skytrain. In June when I landed it took over 45 minutes to get to immigration and then the line to get through customs took another half hour or longer.
My flight was to MCO but I had allowed for all things that could possibly go wrong, so I booked a 6pm flight out of DFW.

Unfortunately cannot stop DFW as booked QFF and need to be in MIA for a cruise.

Hello everyone.

Thanks for sharing your experince with QF 7.

I will be tkaing this flight in February connecting through to MEX and wondered if anyone had a copy of the business class menu?

I'm curious if it's the same menu as QF flights to LAX.

Thank you!

I must be really oblivious to my surroundings because I haven't seen this on the handful of Y+ flights I've done.

I do wish we got the snack packs in Y+ though, even if there is this self serve area that I am not privy to. I like the ability to have something on hand if I wake up rather than search for it. I'm also really hesitant to request anything from FA's after the mixed experiences I have had. I get the impression I'm putting them out when I'm asking for a cup of tea!
