Hi,
I am flying to Frankfurt on QF5(terminal 2) then transferring to Croatia Airline (terminal 1) to fly to Dubrovnik same day different booking ref. Does anyone know if Qantas interlines bags with Croatia Airlines?
Any other tips gratefully accepted!

Different tickets I would say you are out of luck interlining wise

mmm...... I was hoping if I turned up at the SYD check-in with the Croatia booking ref I might have a small chance

I've been suprised at some of the non-Partner, non-OW airlines QF has managed to interline tickets with in the past. I guess it is worth a shot!

Always worth a polite shot, but QF have an official policy of only interlining on separate tickets with onward carriage on a oneworld flight.

Posted on a wing and a prayer ...

Depends on who is doing the checkin for you. Qantas, Menzies, etc. Good luck.

In June some relatives flew (paid) QF J to FRA and then had on a separate booking LH (in paid Y) onto KRK.

The bags were checked through to KRK.

Note this was done through a TA who did put in dummy/information sectors showing the LH flight.

Note also last time I tried to have an information sector put in for an AA flight and it did not go through to Premium/Platinum desk, the QF reservations staff refused to do it and said it makes no difference and that bags won't be put through (which is plain wrong as AA is oneworld). I called back the next day and got the Premium desk and they did put it in.

Great thanks that is very useful information ! I will call the Premium desk and hope the person knows how to do it! Problem could be that Croatian is Star!

I wouldn't get your hopes up.

QF will generally add these info sectors with Oneworld flights. The fact that the TA could do it could be down to the GDS that the TA used.

I can't comment on your situation Rolls, as l was only transitting (all airside). 4:15 is a lot of leeway, more than adequate if there are no major delays.

Coming in from BKK, flying to BUD (TG->LH), l had 1 hour 15 minutes, and just made it as l had to go through Boarder/Customs and X-Ray at 6am when FRA was choc-a-block. Even had an escort, if l hadn't, l would not have made it and I would have got lost. FRA is a maze with poor signage (between terminals).

As much as people bag out LHR, I found it easier to transit than FRA.

I normally fly to LHR and know how it works so don't have a problem there . The connection to Croatia is BA via Gatwick so I decided to go via FRA where I have a direct flight with Croation (in Y the reason my flights are on a separate booking )this seems to be an error as I arrive QF (J) then have to transfer terminals ( with or without my bags!) and it all sounds very confusing as per your experience

My inlaws faced a delay of 4 hours ex SIN to LHR on Monday with QF. Luckily they could barge their way onto BA flight to get connection to AMS (also BA), so anything can happen. FRA has fewer chances of connection as you are with OW, not Star.

Because of your time delay between flights though, you should be covered by insurance should you need to pull out the credit card and pay for a different route.

I flew last year to Split with QF to FRA and Croatia Airlines to Split on the one ticket, so the bags went all the way to SPU. However we still had to get boarding passes from the transfer desk. You will have to go from one terminal to the other to get your connecting flight. Don't know if you have go through customs to check in again or if you can pick up your bags and check in at the transfer desk. When you check with QF ask them for advice. Be prepared to do a lot of walking!

Earlier this year I flew QF to FRA, then had to transfer to LH (Terminal 1) to fly FRA-HAM-BUD.

Because Croatia is not yet part of the EU I don't know if you will remain airside to transit or if you will have to clear immigration, collect your bags then clear customs and transfer to Terminal 1.

If you do have to clear immigration and customs then it's not too much of a hassle. Once you've gone through immigration, collected your bags and gone through customs and are out in Terminal 2, find the escalators and head upstairs to the next level and follow the signs to the Sky Line shuttle. This will take you over to Terminal 1. Go to the Departures hall and check in.

I had 3 hours between arriving and my 09:35 flight to HAM, and I still had time to go to the LH lounge, have a shower and breakfast and wait for my flight.

Ahhh thanks everyone - this is why this forum is great- so much information !
