Ch.10 News opened with reporting that QF32 has blown 2 tyres while landing. Saying that the Airbus is still on the tarmac but the pax have been taken off by bus.

SALC website reports QF32 as landed and at pier A, and most of this evenings domestic arrivals show delayed times.

I saw it coming into to land - looked a bit heavy for a fat boy.

Can confirm OQC:

ACARS mode: B Aircraft reg: VH-OQC [Airbus A380]
Message label: Q0 Block id: 3 Msg no: S32A
Flight id: QF0032 [LHR-SIN-SYD] [Qantas]

That makes +1 major incident for QF, then (after the oxygen blowout that forced a diversion to MNL).

The media will have a field day on this one.

Is the media full of union officials?

No (well they are ... but different unions) - instead they rely on whichever union is trumping their cause this week and "eyewitless" reports :)

These incidents are very well timed considering the strikes over the easter break!

These incidents are very well timed considering the strikes over the easter break!

You mean the strikes that QF said will do nothing as the people striking don't work on public holidays or weekends?

:)

Rumour has it OQC had been affected by braking issues in SIN, and that a decision had been made to continue on to SYD, and that this issue may have caused some wheels to lock-up on landing subsequently causing 2 left-hand tyres to burst.

According to -

Another Qantas flight runs into trouble

The A380, carrying 244 people from Singapore, stayed on the runway to be assessed by engineers.

Reports said the two nose-wheel tyres blew up as the plane landed.

The two points that I picked up on are the very light load and with both nose wheel tyres gone, would there be a 'groove' carved in the runway requiring repair to both the aircraft & runway?

Led to believe tyres 5 & 6 were blown/shredded to rim and required replacement on the RWY.

Correct, it shut down 16R for most of the night forcing the Emirates A380 to depart on 07/25 with low fuel requiring a stop in SIN, the Emirates flight left at 1105PM.

QF32 had 244 PAX

Cos the engineers union will be on the phone to the media over EVERY little incident in order to show QF just how much they can ruin the airline.

Never understood why unions want to have it in for the companies that employ their members - surely if the company gets überscrewed then there will be no work for their members?

That seems a very light load given how much QF crow about the yields being so great on the 380....
