Anyone can check the load on QF20 MNL-SYD on Saturday, August 18?

How is the QF lounge in Manila?

Thank you?

Sorry can't help with flight loads but both the QF and CX lounges in MNL are fairly ordinary compared to other lounges in SE Asia but still adequate for some sort of food and drink most of the time.

Very basic but has food and drink. Go for a walk and have a look at the airport. Last time I was there I got a massage from a group of woman (only one did the massage!) who were walking around asking who wanted one. Negotiate the price before hand and it is a good way to fill in an hour.

Beer wine soft drinks basic food, wifi, seats 50ish. Never struggled to find a seat. Only one toilet!

The actual availability in SABRE direct connect with Qantas is
QF 20 J7 C7 D0 I0 Y9 B2 H2 K2 M2 MNLSYD 2025 0630‡1 333 0
L2 V2 S1 N1 E0

It would seem that economy is rather full.

This is very helpful.
I will try to upgrade to J using points. Should I do it at check in counter or in QF lounge?
Thanks

The only way you are liekly to be able to redeem for an upgrade at this late stage is with $$$.

A points request needed to be submitted at least 24 hours before the flight.

As a WP, you may be 'proactivly onloaded' however given the heavy economy loading.

I was in the QF lounge at MNL last month.

Absolute chockers, I somehow managed to grab the last seat in the lounge. That's even with most people there being nice enough to not put their luggage on the seats and feign ignorance. Food/drinks are so-so, one computer (I think) and one toilet.

CX lounge was not much better, a lot less crowded during my visits there - but no toilets at all

CX has a F section, it's only redeeming feature.

No showers whic is quite cough considering what MNL is like.

Thank you all again. Have just arrived in the MNL QF Lounge and as expected, no chance for an upgrade. The lounge is as earlier reported- very basic but better then sitting in the departure hall. The aircon in public areas of the airport seems to be out of order, so being in the lounge makes a difference. The food is basic: sandwiches, pumpkin soup and spaghetti. Soft drinks and alcoholic drinks are basic, but are available so, Halleluiah! There are 2 computers and a printer, which is out of order. The computer I tried to use had a "virus" alert, so I decided not to touch it. The lounge certainly needs a face lift.

If you are Platinum, and the lounge is likely to be on the full side, they often give you a pass for the "Miascor" lounge in the other pier; it is much larger and better appointed (even has a shower!). Looks like you were unlucky this time...

Hi Guys

Does anyone have any more recent experience of the QF lounge in Manilla,We shall be travelling through in Mid November. Is it better to go straight to the CX lounge if so does anyone know the opening times.

Many thanks in advance

Henk's experience at MNL on a Saturday night is pretty typical.

The Saturday night flights back to Oz from SE Asia are often the most popular of the week. QF uses T1, which is supposedly about to undergo further works, although I don't know whether any planned attention to it is merely cosmetic. It's an unattractive terminal: in Australia we might call it 'brutalist' architecture. The PR terminal (two) is a bit more modern, but basic (although the refurbished PR lounge looks pleasant), while Terminal three is more attractive inside, but it's only been open for a few years (although it had large delays before that due to some ongoing dispute).

As for the comment about MNL being a 'cesspit', presumably the contributor hasn't been to Makati or the newer Fort Bonifacio. Makati for instance has lots of greenery and good shopping and dining. Sometimes the greenery and shopping are together, unlike some Australian shopping malls where the only things that are together are large car parks and the mall itself.

Ansett, if you are travelling midweek, you may find the lounges a bit quieter, but QF only has four SYD - MNL - SYD A330 flights a week (occasionally only three, as QF ditches the Tuesday flight) and this is on a route where Philippines is growing faster economically than any other SE Asian country, and there's also interest from Oz companies in relocating call centre operations to it.
