Towards the end of May did QF Y MEL-SYD-HKG > MH J HKG-KUL-SIN > QF Y SIN-MEL

Originally was meant to fly on QF400 6am to connect to QF127 in SYD however heard of the fog forecast the next day so a quick call the Plat desk and they changed me no questions asked to the night before, and after a quick search booked Hotel Formule1 for $109, had a good sleep at the hotel, very basic but was clean and did the trick. In the morning I took the 6:50am shuttle for $6 to Intl terminal directly from the hotel.

Checked in at the First suite for QF127, no queue and very friendly staff, was provided Express path for security, proceeded through to security express path was very quick and I was in the QF 1st lounge by 7:30.

Being my first visit to the First lounge since becoming Platinum was very impressed, aided by the ravings of AFF members!

It was very quiet and got shown to a dining table facing the tarmac (which was quite foggy), ordered Scrambled eggs, Bacon, tomatoes, and toast with Cappuccino. All were fantastic as expected (or hoped).

After a while the fog cleared and the A380 arrived at the gate.

More to follow tomorrow, on MH J and Cathay Pacific First lounge.

Arrival into HKIA, fast and efficient (Almost too fast).

View from outside the Sheraton Hong Kong. Nice clean area, very busy but not chaotic.

How could I miss the Hong Kong light show, was quite impressive.

Sheraton lobby, a little bit dated but still a very good hotel.

Malaysia Airlines First Class (& OWE) checkin @ HKIA, no one in the queue, checked in within 3 mins and off to the CX First lounge.

The Pier food, very nice indeed, although the prosciutto was a bit 'warm' maybe this is why I got sick in SIN the next day. :p
Had some freshly popped Champagne, didn't get the name though, any idea what it would have been?

Very relaxing atmosphere and quiet/comfortable lounges.

MH A380 arrived late from KUL, but not too much delay.
Note Oneworld Orb now appears on their aircraft.

Upon waiting for boarding in the First/OWE boarding line, noticed that there was only 1 other in the First line with me, hundreds deep in the Economy line, and about 15 in the Business/OWS queue. Felt good to be only one of few First or OWE flyers. But other than that was not welcomed or recognised as a OWE.. :(

Front row of J, only 1 other person sitting in this row, despite this they still managed to not have any of the chicken main dish left, and then my 2nd choice of beef curry was also gone, only vegetarian choice left. Very poor considering I was served last in a half full J cabin in the front row and as a OWE.
After making it known I wasn't happy with this at all (nicely of course) to the FA, he said he would go 'downstairs' to check for a chicken or beef meal. After a while a chicken meal appeared from somewhere on a place, I suspect it may have been a Y meal plated on J plate, or a F meal that was pretty terrible anyway.
None the less by this stage I was full from the satay's (I was given extra as there were heaps left over).
Had a nice Shiraz and topups were regularly offered without asking, nice change from the food service earlier.

A traditional Malay welcome drink (actually quite nice) Cinnamon, lime, ice tea, brown sugar...

All in all a good trip, a few problems here and there, but no show stoppers.
MH is a good fit for OW, though needs more work on their service as well as recognition of OW elites.

Thanks for the report and pics.
I love the Sheraton in Hk, great location and the staff there is very helpful.

Thank you, yes Sheraton was good, buffet breakfast was quite good as well.
Tour desk there fantastic and really enjoyed the day tour of HK.

Airport coach transfer to and from airport/hotel was very comfortable, clean, fast and in expensive.
