QF Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

I've had pretty good luck in the past 12 months, I have been SG FF up till now, just minted as WP through '25.

24/1/23 QF12
LAX-SYD Y -> J requested, got PEY for 2 PAX. This one was weird, they deducted no points for this upgrade, however they didn't credit me any SC's or Points for the sector either.

10/3/23 QF148
AKL-SYD Y -> J Successful at the gate

30/5/23 QF8
DFW-SYD Y -> J Successful

7/7/23 QF3
AKL-JFK PEY -> J Successful

18/8/23 QF4
JFK-AKL-SYD Y -> J successful

I have another QF3 coming up in a couple of weeks with a PEY -> J request in, hopefully WP status gets me the upgrade as the loading looks pretty full in J, last one I'm shooting for for the year thankfully.

Unsuccessful at gate (Manual checklist - nominally "training")
Though I did retain an empty seat next to me.

Pity the transition to A330s on this route starts after my return.

Just had the most bizarre conversation with Qantas.

Im booked Mel to Syd to LHR today. QF1, WP, PE (T). Syd to LHR Upgraded PE to Business confirmed T-24. All good

Wake up this am i receive SMS saying my flight from Mel to Sydney cancelled, call Qantas they tell me there are no flights available Mel to Syd so i cant go to LHR today. Absolutely nothing available.........

I look online and there are seats selling on the 9am, 10am, 11am and 12 am. The Qantas lady tells me these are not available to me, only for new bookings ! After a row and 30 minutes on the phone they agreed to put me on the 12 Noon.........madness............

This is the absolute most basic function of a call centre agent and they just can't get it right

HUCA, maybe after 0700 est, you'll hopefully get AKL/HBA and get on a flight that suits you

I'd also submit feedback for whatever it's worth. The absolute clowns that make these decisions in Mascot have got to know what they're doing to their paying customers.

Given the mindset that QF has shown in the recent past, and the resurgence of know nothings in QCCs suggests that the dot point has been implemented by getting Mindpearl to increase staffing. While it would help address wait times, adding more incompetence does not improve service.

This level of incompetence absolutely needs to be reported straight to the CEO. Management need to know what is happening on the front line.

As I'd assumed Y was chockers so it was to the carrier's advantage as well. "Operational Reasons" are not always bad.
