Seems to have worked pretty well for them domestically. Looking at the BITRE stats, Qantas only operates around 40% of QF coded domestic flights, the rest being outsourced to the various Qantaslink airlines.

If the arrangement with Finnair works out for them, we may see the current domestic model extended onto the international network as well.
It will work until it turns around and bites them. Standards are not the same, even domestically. This is just a replay of Boeing.

It's been a while since Qantas have flown BNE-MNL which looks to be a route on that map. Haven't heard any mention of it coming back? Could be a good A321 route though.
Indeed it was a sign of things to come... Now QF will also need to remove PVG, add VLI to the route map and update the start date of DRW-SIN.

They’ve done all of that now…although they haven’t removed PVG (or added an *ends 28 July 2024). Maybe QF is indeed looking to reverse the decision after China’s Government launched visa free travel for Australians from July 1. They’ve also added PER-JNB and PER-AKL.

And they still have Adelaide on. Maybe they are going to start Adelaide to ... anywhere international?
321XLRs are lateand 220s aren't being cranked out en mass. So 2030 + we will see ADL flights 😄
