Hi all,

Got a curious one where I booked my friends flights in Sabre. Add his BA FF and cross referenced to QF & AY.

Friend has a QF FF but never uses it, however, he checked in using his login through the QF app.

QF has deposited his QF FF number in to the booking and he can’t claim these TP on BA. (no fault of BA)

Friend said at no time was he given a pop up or pressed a button to add his QF FF

I can understand it being auto from QF’s side with so many members, but has anyone else experienced something similar and did they get it resolved?

He could have gotten the FF program changed prior to flying but once the flight is over then too late.

Why didn't your friend check in through BA? And why did you cross reference the flights to QF & AY?

He checked in using the app and when he dropped his bags off at the counter (ex Nelson in NZ) he asked about his FF and that's when dropping bags off and they told him that his Qantas FF was in there. He asked for it to be removed, but check said they couldn't. The flight from NSN was operated by JQ or NZ from memory

When you try to check in through BA and the flight is operated by another carrier, it will divert you to the operating carriers web check in, so that option isn't available. I tried checking in on his flight from LON to HEL on a BA flight number operated by AY and it sent me to AY's web checkin. Qantas may be different?

In the GDS, it's always good practice to cross reference your FF number to the other airlines. e.g. BA1234567/QF BA1234567/AY so status is transmitted to other carriers. In this case, as all airlines are Amadeus it shouldn't really matter, but when you are using airlines on different GDS platforms (e.g. AA and QF, often they can't read each others data. I was recall MIA to SYD was always a nightmare for Qantas passengers being told they didn't have a flight from MIA. Qantas posted one of their staff there to sort it out. This was back in 2006 or so?)

I can see a situation where a passenger is chasing status with AA and only have AA in their booking, but they check in through the QF app. Does the QF app automatically generate the QF FF to the booking?

They did this in LST to me.
Said they couldn't change it so when in the terminal went to the QF webpage and without logging in brought up my booking and could change it there. And it did post to BA.
