QF may pull out of LHR

To even get to Amman you pretty much have to fly EK or *A or via somewhere, which doesn't help Oneworld Aussies very much.

Not true. Can fly from SYD via BKK, changing to RJ at BKK. Or via the QF codeshare on EY to AUH, changing to RJ at AUH (obviously this will only help QFF's not other oneworld members).

I'd take a wild guess that there'd me more Australians travelling to Asia for business and holidays than to Middle East, and thus QF can support services that hub in Asia (SIN, and now HKG as well - if you exclude ADL) from all the main Australian cities, that wouldn't be viable all the way to DXB.

Its no wild guess, despite the presence of the middle eastern airlines in Australia its not a popular option as far as top routes go, QF has stated it sees Asia as its expansion opty, not Europe, flying via the middle east ignores to the two largest markets in the world.

Fair enough.

But it still doesn't change the fact that EK seems so much more convenient than RJ. From Perth, two flights to Brazil, Canada or many destinations in Africa, beats alot if not all other options for those long hauls.

Cheers,
