Im off on a quick jaunt in a few months and am considering what flights to go..

Il be flying back from LHR and can either fly QF via Dubai, on an L fared A380, or I can fly J class LH via Frankfurt and SIN, changing to a QF plane for the last leg back to Melb on a 747

From experience, what would you all recommend?

Thanks!

Qantas :)... I already have some status credits from a trip a few months ago.

Is hoarding of points and reaching the next/retaining your current status level important, or are you just after the best experience?

The J flights would probably be a lot better than Y, costs being equal.

Points definitely hold weight with the decision, but in addition to that, I'm worried about the multiple flight changes as I'm already going to be doing quite a lot of those in the States.

If I do a full J flight, it'll be on a Lufty ticket with no SC and will cost me an extra $4k.

I'm not sure on points, but in terms of SC (not taking into account LH flights), you'd earn between 60 and 70SC in Y on just Qantas, depending on how the flights are booked (straight through or changing in Dubai), but 120SC in J just between SIN-MEL. That might not be worth $4k to you though.

My apologies - I meant SC. Points I'm fine on.

The route is
MEL - LAX on QF
LAX - LAS on AA
LAS - TPA on AA
TPA - MIA on AA
MIA - LHR on BA (QF ticketed)
LHR - MEL on QF via Dubai

I think I'm up for about 200SC for this trip in PE?
