Flew one of these the first time I think since I was 5yo, and I thought it was a really comy ride. Especially in row 1 - seats much wider I feel that the 717 - and nice soft leather.
This was in WA - and the crew were excellent. Both flights.

According to seat guru the seat width on the QF B717s varies.
On the all economy aircraft the seat width is said to be 17 inches.
On the aircraft with business class the economy seat width is said to be 18 inches.
Not sure how reliable that information is.
I can't find any specification of the seat width on the QF F100s but I note that the VA F100s are said to have a 17.4 inch seat width.
So if the QF F100s are about the same, the comparison with the B717s may depend on which aircraft you were on!

Just did my first ever flight on a F100. I was in seat 1D and the legroom is great since the bulkhead wall doesn't extend all the way in front of 1D. The ashtray in the armrest is a reminder of a not so distant past...

Virgin uses these as Alliance planes in regional Qld. Love them. Get there in half the time compared to Qantas Dash 8 and you can put carryon luggage in the overhead compartments.(Qantas make you check them)

Not a bad plane if you can overlook the potentially serious issue of no rear exit doors. In a serious smoke emergency, or fire on the wing, you can be a long way from an exit :( (Some models were delivered with an additional set of rear exits.)

Emergency exits are totally overrated

Well really your post should read:

Qantas, through its partly owned subsidiary, Alliance, operates flights for Virgin in regional QLD 😂

And for Virgin between Brisbane and PNG.

And whilst I agree that the F70/F100 are not bad aircraft to fly on if I have the choice between a nearly 30 year old F100 or a 5 year old QF B737-800 I will always go with the later......

trouble is we dont have much of a choice in the regions. Propeller Dash 8 or jet F100. When virgin flew their own planes here they were ATRs and dont get me started on that reverse albatross.

About to use this for the first time Alice to Darwin Qantas so I’m comforted by the quite positive comments on the F100. However, anyone know why I can’t select my seat? That’s a change for the worse.

Flew PER-BME-PER last year for a little holiday. B717 up and F100 back.

Have to agree that the F100 certainly felt more comfortable than the B717. Granted the planes are certainly getting old, the seating and legroom were more than adequate for the relatively short flight duration. Bathrooms and ash trays made the plane show its age, but suppose that’s a little bit of character.
The Avgeek in me wants to go for a flight on VH-NHO, which first flew on 23/07/1990... making it about 29.3 years old and the oldest in the fleet!

Standard procedure on the small planes where weight distribution is well planned ahead of time.

Check in ASAP and set your preference to your choice of window or aisle.

Determine what your preferred seat is and go for it.
I wonder if platinum status will still be taken into account, given we can only check in 24 hours before flight. I’ll soon find out. I use that flight a lot.

Is that peculiar to the F100? Hundreds of regional jets operate where seating is able to be allocated from time of booking.
