Another typical QF glitch.

The SMS notification for flight change is quite useful for timing departure to pick up from the airprort. It gives updates on changes to arrival time, and notifies when the flight actually lands.

One small problem - it doesn't cope with diversions. Headed out to the airport to meet QF632 this evening. When I left home, it was schedule for 20:42 - a little late.

Storms in BNE tonight. Arrive at the airport, and get the SMS saying arrival now 21:10. Not bad I think. Then check FR24 - that would be 21:10 to land in SYD but the message still says BNE in the text.

Got the landing notification as well, saying it has landed in BNE, but both FR24 and partner on the plane agree it is in SYD.

Interesting choice of diversion given the SYD curfew.
Would have thought OOL might have been more sensible.

Are they taking off again or stuck in SYD??

It is just pushing back for take off. OOL subject to same storm activity.

Looks like they diverted fairly promptly - no doubt to make sure they could refuel and beat the curfew.

Unlike the SMS content, the APP status info is quite good. Says it diverted, tells you it went to SYD. Then adds on the onward sector, with schedule and updated times.

Pity they couldn't get the detail into the push notification via SMS.
