QF earning SC is a fixed 12 months, VA is a cycling one (I guess)...

How do I put it, if I keep flying VA, continuously/religiously, does my 12 months start again 01 July?
I mean, like 07 Jul, will be the first flight, it starts again at zero to 10 to 20, to build up towards retaining PS, eh?
Or if I keep flying, do I build up to SG.
Sorry, hard to word it out right.
As mentioned on here, VA is a cycling period, ie, your SC earning time will move through the year, where as for QF, its fixed Aug to Jul. In this respect, I think the QF system is easier to keep track of.
But then, QF is now going down or being pushed down the aeroplane lav, that I am not sure if I want to keep QF PS after this first year, or even to aim for LB (Loyalty Bonus), after this upcoming 12 months.
This is my first time I have gotten to VA PS, please excuse me for my "excitement"...

Velocity works with two separate totals. One is your SC's earned since your anniversary date which is essentially the same as the QFF style. It is used for requalification and will reset to 0 on your anniversary date. Where Velocity differs to QFF is the Status Credit Balance which is a rolling 12 month total. That is it is updated on a daily basis to reflect the SC's earned for the previous 365 days. So if you were to fly a lot over the end of one qualifying year and the beginning of the next year, and even though your SC's had reset to 0 your rolling balance will continue to grow and allow you to reach a higher level. If you achieve a higher level under this method your anniversary date will change to reflect the new date you qualified for the higher level. Hope that makes sense.
