Interesting that PEK gets cut.

Seems there is alot of A330 International capacity being used domestically now as well - I guess this is where the JQ 330's would have been deployed if they had received 787's by now. It just sow happens international demand is down, so they can use the international 330's.

NZ is interesting. I wonder how successful JQ will be against Pac Blue.

Geez I hope our friend platy isn't headed to NZ anytime soon.

With Qantas New Zealand domestic going; how long before all the New Zealand lounges are closed.

I think a farewell New Zealand lounge trip is in order.

AKL-CHC-AKL-WLG-AKL June long weekend sounds like a good time for a trip to New Zealand.

Actually your post raises an interesting point, are they just going to repaint and reconfigure the metal they currently have in QF colours? they wouldn't have enough JQ aircraft spare to cover the schedule would they?

They seem to have quite a few A320's on order so I presume it is some of those OR it could be removing domestic AU capacity from the JQ fleet?

They'll be using A320s and the 737-300s will be going.

"Jetconnect" will get 737-800s and still use them across the ditch, apparently with seatback IFE!

I'll try and find a link.

From other sources (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/qant...-route-changes-product-update-73h-w-ptvs.html) it appears some of the 737's are going to be redeployed more permanently trans-tasman.

e.g. MEL-AKL going to three times daily along with the introduction of more 73H's between SYD and AKL.

(I have a feeling QF25/QF26 may soon no longer operate to/from MEL, perhaps operating AKL/LAX only ... is that possible?)

They will be brand new A320's, all from order.

Jetstar will commence with two A320 aircraft from 10-Jun-09* operating four city pair markets, before introducing a third A320 from 24-Jun-09*. This will support the reintroduction of Qantas Group operations between Christchurch-Wellington* and provide additional daily frequencies from Auckland to Christchurch and Wellington

In June Jetstar will base a fleet of six A320s in New Zealand, spread evenly between Christchurch and Auckland to support the carrier’s domestic NZ and trans Tasman operations.

It will have to come from Australia not only for maintence purposes but for a complete restocking of the aircraft, which is only done when the aircraft returns to Australia.

Perhaps QF25/26 will go via Brisbane again or it may do BNE-LAX-AKL-LAX-BNE to get the aircraft back to Australia.

I think the latter (BNE-LAX-AKL-LAX-AKL- ... -LAX -BNE)

I like that idea; early May was floated in a related FT thread, but I've already got OzFest plus AKL-SYD-SIN-SYD-AKL from the 2-for-1 deal (tag teaming with - whimsically - Kiwi Flyer) in May.

I've flown plenty of AKL/WLG but not AKL/CHC, AKL/ZQN or CHC/ZQN. Would like to try these (although the prices will probably be through the roof unless another sale is on. Farewell sale?)

Not for me mate; I've already booked a YUP run in the USA for June 6/7/8/9 ... I'm looking to the second weekend in May.

What are you aiming for now. I thought you were already Qantas Plat and Qantas LTG so what more is there.

I will get to Plat probably by the end of 2012 is my plan at this stage.

Very disappointing news.

Anyway it will give me the opportunity to try out DJ or Air NZ for New Zealand domestic sectors....

He is hoping to have the required SCs in the account when QF announces Lifetime Platinum soon. ;)

I'm actually booked on a SYD-PEK service which is due to take place after the service is removed from the schedule, so it will be interesting how they reaccommodate. I did call but the call centre staff didn't even know the service had been removed so I guess I jumped in a bit early.

I'm assuming it will now be SYD-PVG with a domestic connection to PEK (they codeshare already with China Eastern). Otherwise maybe SYD-HKG with a CX or Dragonair connection?

I'm booked on QF124 (BOM-SYD) on 29 May, interesting as to what alternatives QF will offer !
