QF DOM Y Dinner 'enhanced' to a footy pie?

On 19/12 on SYD-BNE the J lunch was a Mezze plate-

I had that the other morning (25/12) on SYD-BNE. We had a last minute aircraft swap (we deboarded our original aircraft), and it was loaded as the morning refreshment on the aircraft that was supposed to be running SYD-ADL.

They call it antipasto though. The last time I had a 'mezze plate' on QF it included dolmades and other related goodies.

It was fine, although I was looking forward to the hot breakfast!

(biscuits weren't too bad if you spread the cheese on them and washed it down with wine).

Flying BNE-SYD on 21 December they were serving chicken(?) quiche for dinner but I was not eating meat at the time. It looked OK but not quite the same as the usual dinner offering.

Great, so now QF introduce catering policies based on arbitrary dates instead of time of day or fare paid. So a leisure traveller who pays the same or higher airfare compared to a business traveller, but travels 24 Dec-7th Jan, enjoys a lesser service? Completely logical!

I wonder what will happen on the Australia Day long weekend? Easter? Anzac Day? Maybe Hot Dinners will only be a weekday service?

I guess they already have that. Free alcohol on weekdays but not weekends.

I think the worst thing I ever had in Y was a fig scone (on its own, no butter and as hard as a rock)!

They have them all the time on CBR-SYD flights on the Dash. Fair dinkum those things shouldn't be allowed on the plane. They are so hard that if someone threw it across the plane and it hit you in the head you would be knocked out!!

Normally if I am on that plane it is for work with a colleague who is Gold status. Therefore I fill up on the bircher museli in the club which is great and skip the scone!!

Was offered a Pie last week on a 6pm flight to BNE from MEL. Not impressed. I have sent a complaint to Qantas so hopefully will get a reply.

Don't hold your breath. I sent in a complaint after my experience. I did get a written response but it was a very generic 'we're sorry your experience didnt meet the premium service Qantas aims to achieve' or something like that. It could have been in response to pretty much any complaint I could have about anything!!

However, if we all keep complaining maybe just maybe they will ditch the pies for good.

A while ago there was a lengthy thread about getting Coke Zero on-board QF aircraft. Not too long after that, Coke Zero became a drinks option. Not sure if there was any direct correlation but I like to think that Red Roo et al read and respond to this forum that represents probably the most passionate FF customers.

And I wish they would bring back Diet Coke!! So much nicer then Coke Zero! :)

What is interesting is that in the QP and J lounges they actually do have diet Coke. Wonder how long this will last? Of course we really need a diet lemonade and or diet lemon drink.

Just get half a glass of lemonade and fill up the rest with water!

I don't mind the pie. It's nicer than some of the pasta dishes I've been given.
But the presentation is terrible.

I don't get what you are talking about with the tags. Domestically there are no Pink/Orange tags anymore, hasn't been since NGCI was introduced.
Not the case, I've got the tags from CBR, BNE and OOL in the last month.

And that was a bad move.

I would much rather have Diet Coke and in Thailand/Asia do not mind Coca Cola Light but Coke Zero is an awful drink....

I wish they would get rid of VB and Heineken from City Flyer flights and bring in Pure Blonde and Crown Lager which is served in the QF Pub! The price of these is the same as a carton of Heineken! After a few drinks in the QF pub, its difficult to stomach a warm VB on board!

Coke Zero is better than Diet Coke.

Just a crazy thought, but perhaps they could have both!

Heinkeken is the best of the four, VB by far the worst.
