I had a thought today and I wanted to see if my logic was sound or if anyone else has tried this...

I'm on a Network Aviation charter (QF flight number) every week to/from site that I earn 678 QF points on at the moment - no status points as it's a charter.

However, it's a Y fare as far as the e-ticket is concerned so I was considering chucking it all into AA instead as QF gives you EQM and I think with Y fares it's actually 1.5 EQM...not including any status bonuses (I get AA Gold as I work for CAT so that's automatically 25% on top)

In theory, with 52 flights a year @ 678 points p/flight, assuming no status bonuses that should still yield 52k EQM and subsequently give me AA Plat - does that sound about right?

At the moment we're actually laughing because the airport code for site is some airfield in the US so AA are crediting us 9,182 per flight...but I was just trying to work out whether this was still feasible in the long run without that pretty major windfall at the moment if AA work out what is going on.

Anyone else tried crediting QF charter flights to another OW carrier and getting something useful out of it?

I believe it'll be based on fare basis though. If you try to put another airlines FF number into it, they'll query QF about it and it may be determined not to be valid for earn.

There may also be an exclusion specifically for certain flight numbers; i'm guessing these regular charters will be in a 4 digit number block?

Well that's right but at the moment we get sent an e-ticket 12 hours before the flight and it just shows a Y fare operated by a Qantas subsidiary.

Thus far the points are coming through from AA, but at an incorrect rate - but you'd think irrespective of that if there was something to report it as a charter flight when AA go to do the mileage credit it 'might' have flagged up by now?

The flights are in 4 digit number blocks though, you're right
