Qantas has quietly purged several Australian religious leaders from its Chairman’s Lounge as part of a drive to create efficiencies and reward the biggest spenders on the airline.

The Australian understands religious leaders across faiths have received letters removing them from the exclusive list over the past several years.

Further in the article it mentions that QF has been cutting numbers for four years.

I wonder if any other groups are losing membership?

Article is paywalled so can’t read details but CL is clearly a tool that can be used by QF in any way that directly (directors/decision makers) or indirectly (influencers/celebs etc) drives their business.

Sometimes memberships are awarded when the purpose isn’t crystal clear to the general public but there is always a reason.

I’m sure that the influence of certain people/groups changes over time so membership status reflects this...

Was there more info on why Phillip Adams lost access to the CL? Certainly not for religious reasons. Perhaps not a big spender though.

It was interesting how Philip Adams vented furiously on being purged in his Oz column last weekend. He was not happy.

It was also interesting that he came up with the Spirit of Australia slogan.

I read the article, and while I’m not a huge fan of Adams, I thought it (the article) was restrained (given the circumstances) and was well written.
Maybe I need to read it again ?

Generally it was well-written, but what about the comment about the big f... you in the sky? I didn’t think that was very restrained; arguably it was rather petulant or juvenile and I thought spoiled the piece.

I fully concur with his general sense of insult, given that he was the person who came up with an enduring slogan.

I thought adams was very restrained, I don't think he actually cared about being removed. He said it himself, he doesn't travel much anymore. Seems only the ex-communication of the Fraser Annings of the world counts around here. I was going to mention Adams removal in the other thread, as being a sign of balance.
But it seems you lot got that one shut down.

Phillips lost me at "considering my social media presence" or similar (cant open page now)

Didnt think the CL was for insta'influencers.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Well it seems some do according to this thread as so many 'know' him. :) And, there's also a 4 nights a week radio program. So, again ...

These days Adams writes one column a week, which no-one reads. Qantas made a correct decision in this case.
