QF award flight booking class on BA

Hi all,
I've just booked two award flights via Qantas website for LGW-GLA and return. I made the booking in business class.

When I look at the booking information through the Qantas website, no booking class is shown for either flight, but there is a little bullet-point note saying ":!: Your flight from London to Glasgow will be in Business class".

Looking at the bookings through checkmytrip.com however shows the fare type as "Economy Restricted".

I was just wondering if anyone knows the significance of this? Do BA not actually operate a two-class service on these flights (and if not, why did QF let me book in business class and presumably pay a points premium for the privilege?)

There are problems with Checkmytrip regarding class bookings. My suggestion is to log onto the BA website and enter your Booking Number (should be the same as the QF webiste's and Checkmytrip) into BA's MMB. This should list class details and what BA have from their side.

Thanks littl_flier, I just tried that and the BA site shows the class as "Domestic", whatever that means!

I can't find any information on the BA website about the service offered on that route.

"Domestic" is just the word they use for travel within the UK.

Interestingly, when I had a look at "UK Domestic" at British Airways - Information the seat plan for the aircraft shows an all economy class config. :shock: There is also no reference to Business Class being offered on UK doemstic. Also, when I went to make a dummy booking on the BA website, Business Class wasn't even offered as an option.

Unfortunately, I don't think I can help you on this one. I would be giving QF a call about this.

The other remote possibility is that they are operating a J class aircraft on the day you are travelling as a sub.

Hi all,

BA don't have a separate biz class cabin on UK domestic flights - all seats/service is the same regardless of where you sit. If you have a fully flex economy ticket or if you're booked on a biz class through ticket from an international flight (e.g. book biz class from Australia - Glasgow via LHR) then you'll have access to the BA lounges either end of the domestic sector. Unfortunately i've never booked a domestic UK award flight so not sure if this will be available on that ticket.

Only bmi provide a separate UK domestic biz class cabin.

All UK domestics are 1 class service so you will be in economy class regardless. BA offers awards in both business and economy inventories presumedly to fit in with international connections. Also, I assume that you will be entitled to lounge access being booked in business

If you have sapphire/emerald status, I would definitely rebook into economy since you gain nothing by being booked in a business inventory

As long as there is X available, it shouldn't be too difficult if you explain that there is no business class on the service methinks.
