I had a weird call to QF just then. I was having issues with QF picking up my AA status. The CSR ended up asking for the password to my AA account. I did oblige but I ended up changing my password just then. Are they even allowed to ask for FF passwords and has anyone experienced this?

I've had a QF CSA asking for my QF pin when I was trying to book a JASA (when they were still alive) & the website wouldn't doing something like book a permitted stopover without charging sector airfares so they signed in as me to verify what I was telling them so they could waive the assistance fee.

I haven't ever heard of them asking for a password/pin for another airlines freq flyer account such as AA.

I rang QF yesterday re SC not posting correctly for a JASA.
Was asked for my PIN
This should not happen!

It is fairly common to be asked for QFF pins, but not sure about being asked for a AA account PIN.

Were they able to rectify the issue, once they had your password, or no joy as yet?

I always had to provide my PIN to QF for JASA's over the phone. With AA, I've only ever talked to them direct, and not needed to go through QF.

They certainly don't need your AA password. I can't think of any valid reason.

Asking for your Qantas PIN on the other hand is normal.

Nope didn't manage to fix it. I could only assume it was due to my relatively new status that's why they couldn't pick it up. She tried to get in but apparently she couldn't get in with my password. I stopped her from continuing to try and asked her to remove my FF # and try again in a couple of days... I really don't know why they would ask for my AA #.

Because the agent didn't know what they were doing.

unless it's recently changed, you can go to the Finnair website, retrieve your booking there, and change the FF number.

Thanks. I've tried Finnair, its not working for me but Qatar is! so thats good. On the other hand... Just a question, I understand that it costs to select seats in advance but... I seem to be able to do it with Qatar and not get charged....?
