Ok here is my situation. I am flying from SYD-BOM return for a friends wedding.
However I wish to fly QF Premium Economy, though this is not available on the SIN-BOM leg. Qantas phone staff told me I would have to purchase 2x seperate tickets SYD-SIN PE and SIN-BOM Economy. however the concern I have is whether my bags can be checked the whole way through, so I don't have to go re-checkin again for the 2nd leg.

Can anyone advise if this is possible, if so how? The person I spoke to on the phone was a little hesitant and in the end said its not possible.

I am suprised Qantas's website doesn't cater for this situation where PE isn't available on certain routes.

Any advice would be appreciated! Cheers!

They can check it through on separate itineraries assuming that they have an interline agreement with the carrier that operates SIN-BOM ; if you book by phone , you may be able to get the 2 tickets in a single and so be protected if anything goes wrong

Its QF flight and QF aircraft both sectors.

Even if you have two separate bookings on QF your bags can be through checked to the final destination.

Firstly, you must tell the checkin agent what your connecting flight number is and the final destination is so they can merge the flights.

Once they have done this and you get checked in you should receive both boarding passes and your bag should be checked through to Mumbai via Singapore.

Don't forget to get an Indian visa if you're on an Aussie passport - allow a good 2 weeks to get this.

Be aware that if you do this there is no protection against missing the connection and if doing this I would suggest leaving plenty of time to "connect" to the onward flight

Dave

No protection, but QF are usually pretty good at looking after pax they transfer onto their own services. Having said that QF5 would be a better option than QF 31 as it arrives in SIN earlier.

I think I will just be booking Y all the way, it will save me the hassle of 2 tickets and the possibility of no protection if connection missed.

How do I organise a stopover in Singapore for a day or two on the way back?
When I goto book on QF website it only lists connecting flights with 2 hours or so stopover. Do I have to call QF phone sales to do this?

Thanks all!

Called Qantas reservations last night, they said I have to use the 'Multi-City' tool to include stopovers.

The Multicity tool doesn't let you choose fare type! it defaults to 'Sale' fare. I want Super Saver fare (higher fare). Why can't it be easy! :)
