QF A380 Lounge vs Seats

On the QF A380 there is a J lounge on the upper deck which seems to be used infrequently. Why hasn't QF put some single J seats there even without windows?

I've always thought that it is so infrequently used that the space could be put to some better use.

It depends on the flight. Sometimes I have found the lounge to be full, on other flights it seems like I am the only one using it. In that case it is a great chance to have a chat with the crew who occasionally pop in to see what is going on.

Even though it is no where as good as the EK A380 lounge, I still found it pretty nice to hang out there and have a chat with the crew/passengers that happened to be there.

It especially useful if you want to have a conversation with your partner/colleagues (or read a book) but want to avoid disturbing the other passengers because everyone else around you is sleeping.

I agree. I noticed it wasn't really being used and a couple of times went and sat there while boarding continued. On each occasion I was offered a drink by the FAs. It's also a great place for the last minute calls and emails.

I have used it on a full flight to watch a movie when my seat power and IFE was inoperative. It seems to be underutilised on most flights. The odd flight I've been on has a group of Gen Y going on a business trip who sit in the lounge for most of the flight with free pouring bubbly.

On QF94 I usually spend 4-5 hours there after meal service trying not to fall asleep in the main dormitory. That's my way of fighting jet lag

What about a shower room? I have never used this, but I understand some airlines (? Emirates) have this for F passengers.
Would anyone here actually make use of a shower ?

For sure, a shower would be great after a long haul flight just before landing. But its a tricky time slot to get I have read.

I've made excellent use of the A380 Lounge on one occasion. Last year I was travelling SYD-LHR with some cousins. I was in F, they in Y. After the meal service I asked the FA in F if I could invite a family member from Y to the Lounge. The response was yes and that she'd get us a drink, and when I brought my cousin up to the galley and we asked for different wines, we were given a bottle each, as well as a cheese plate. So we made very good use of the Lounge for a couple of hours. After much wine I was tired and went to my bed, and I later learnt that my cousin somehow arranged for his partner to join him in the Lounge. For them, having a break from their Y seat in the Lounge for a few hours was just heaven, especially when the FAs looked after them so well.

The only thing that I don't like about the A380 lounge is the seating itself. It is very low to the fllor, and the back has very little height, so one's posture is poor, and there are no cushions available to improve it.
