Work to boost Qantas seat capacity to begin in August | The Australian
Will be good to have Skybed Mk II on the 744.

Australian Business Traveller said:According to a report in The Australian the rejigged jumbos will sport 270 seats in economy class – some 83 seats more than the current Pacific configuration for the long-range Boeing 747-400ERs. The number of business class seats will drop by eight, from 66 down to 58, while the premium economy cabin is trimmed from 40 seats to 36.
It is a little sad that we will only be able to upgrade to F on A380 routes in the future and the end of F seats with J service as well.
It will be great to get SBII though on other flights - so a bit of half empty/half full scenario for me.
A check of EF for some dates in December (18th) BNE-LAX shows the new config is already in the GDS. 62 in J, 36 in Y+ and lots in Y...too many to count. Y now starts at row 48! 2 less seats in the J upper deck too...
So the new exit row seats are on row 13 on the UD

My math tends to be pretty bad, but does this mean less seat pitch in whY? (genuine question, I'm really not sure), and would it also see an end to the "cabin redefinitions" that see 1-2 rows of whY+ being allocated to whY pax on some routes? (guessing the answer would be yes)
Might have been nice if they could also re-paint the tails in the same down time... even though I realise it'd be a separate factory for that.
