QF616 MEL-BNE yesterday, and once the seat belt sign went out, the curtain between rows 3 and 4 was closed. It's easy for me to tell, as I am always facing it, rather than having my back to it! The great divide between the front and the back is again physical, not just psychological.

Not sure if it was complaints from the J flyers about the plebs soiling there perfumed water closet, or just that QF has re-evaluated the terror risk of flying with the curtain closed.

Didn't happen on QF625 two days earlier.

OT - at check in I was told that by/at the end of the month (or some other similar phrase), they would be rolling out phone/sms/mms boarding passes.

CASA recently relaxed the rules regarding the curtain on domestic flights - as such curtains can now be closed on all domestic flights.

As it should be:D

I agree! I can't stand the people coming up front and using the toilet. I have not been at the back of an aircraft, as a adult. I do seem to recall there being ablutions conveniently located back there though, when I flew as a child. Are they still there? Or in these days of cost cutting have airlines removed them?

They're still there...

It's still there - but they charge you per visit and by the size of the deposit - only CC are accepted.

I noticed the curtain being closed whilst sitting in J for a couple of flights earlier this week.

In saying that, it felt a bit nicer than an open curtain but it didn't stop Y pax from pushing through the curtain to use the front bathroom. FAs didn't stop any pax either. I believe this is the "it's not unacceptable until crowding occurs" principle that also ruled when the curtain could not be closed.

IMHO nothing short of a coughpit style door will keep those annoying Y pax out of our quiet private little world.

I do hope they are installed soon.

I also believe that air marshal's are not allowed to shoot "Back Pax" just for pushing past the curtain. Maybe with the instalation of a coughpit style door this may change. You don't see me heading down the back to use their facilities! The same common courtesy would be appreciated.

Shooting them may be a little harsh but hog tying and beating may be suitable.;)

I WAS assuming a shot in a limb RATHER than a body shot.

However..... I'd be OK with a hog tie and gentle beating...... Oooo OR a tazer!!

Now that is thinking, all J pax get issued with a tazer for the duration of the flight.:D

Trap door @ row 3 in the floor activated by RFID tags surgically implanted into the peons (Y pax)

I am trying my best but sometimes they just will not bite:cool:

Without biting I will however comment.

I asked a couple of CSM's about this and the answer was that the front vs rear toilets and curtains are at the discretion of the individual CSM. One simply refused to make the announcement and close the curtain and the other made the announcement but did not enforce it at all. They both stated that from their perspective they just liked to keep, wait for it, common sense in the equation when dealing with these things.

... common sense ....

 What is this "common sense" thing you talk of.

It really does not bother me until I get bumped around during meal times or a large group is waiting for the toilet and I cannot go.

But I find that pax can be very protective of their "rights" on board.

Yes I have noticed the curtain too. Sometimes they use it and other times not.

Maybe its a mood based thing?

I for one am glad they are closing the curtain again, make the cabin feel more personal, I usually request 3F anyway so it feels like i'm in my own little space anyway
