Hi all,

Can anyone tell me what the service is like in 'J" on the MEL-SIN return at the moment.
Does the turn down service (duvet etc) still occur even if it is a 6 hour overnight flight. I gather the delayed cafe style breakfast happens on this flight to allow more sleep. If anyone who has traveled on this route recently, please advise as I need to book 2 return flights to SIN in the next 2 months (from MEL).

Please, anyone feel free to respond!!
Guess I want to know whether to use QF and maybe a couple of JASA or another OW carrier.
Cheers.

I'm on QF35 tomorrow so will comment after that if I remember

Caught 36 back from SIN last Friday night in J. When you get to the new QF Singapore lounge after check in, the host on the desk will ask you what your preference is and they will pass it onto the crew. You can nominate to dine onboard or for a turndown service with mattress and instead have your meal in the new SIN lounge.

They do a quick cheese croissant breakfast just before MEL.

After takeoff the crew on their initial rounds knew I had nominated a turn down with no plane meal and fitted the mattress straight up after take off.

Great service as usual

QF36 J 2 weeks ago. Did get asked at the lounge if I wanted the turndown service, said yes, didn't happen...

Found a bedroll and blanket in the overhead and DIY.

Had dinner but frankly was the worst I've had for a while. Both in terms of quality and it took ages.....
To be really pedantic, bread nearly broke my teeth...when it came...sat for ages with empty plates...cheese plate had no brie... etc..

this sounds like spoiled brat, but I'm just comparing with the same flight a few weeks previously...

Went to sleep and forgot about it. (And being able to do this outweighs any complaints here...)

In hindsight, was certainly not up to par with the last couple of same flights this year.

The 'dine in lounge or on plane' choice seems a good step for these medium hauls. I'd prefer the immediate turn-down with no on-board meal, although DIY isn't difficult.

Are they still giving out PJs on this flight? I did MNL-SYD recently - no PJs (apparently not such a new policy, but unknown to me prior). They also started the coughpy café breakfast abt 2.5 hours before landing!!!

Skybed MKI or II?

I have already booked SIN-MEL and HKG-MEL over the next few months ... I would have seriously thought about going CX for the HKG one at least if I had realised at the time of booking how these flights have deteriorated since the EK deal.

Pjs still given out. Unfortunately it was Skybed MK1
