Sure this isn't new but it sucks sitting in the A.A. Lounge where the food is yogurt covered pretzels and cookies. Two drinks. One coke cost me a premium drink voucher.

So 2 cokes and a cookie. Awesome job qantas.

Last time I was on QF 94 and the lounge was full but I could get salads and stuff.

Okay ranted now. I'll relax.

As you are in an AA lounge should not you be ranting to AA and not QF ?
No airline provides lounges at all airports

Australian airlines lounges ae generally a step above what is available at most USA airports.

I have never had problems requesting additional drink vouchers in any AA lounge.

QF94 LAX/MEL departs at 2330, QF108 LAX/SYD @ 2350, QF16 LAX/BNE @ 2355 & QF12 LAX/SYD @ 2220 so I don't think the fact you're flying to BNE makes it the 'poor cousin' any more than people travelling to SYD on QF108.

You won't get the same standard of food in AA Lounges in the US as you're used to enjoying here in Australia so you need to plan for that however you usually get a meal within an hour after take-off from LAX.

My experience of the LAX AA Flagship Lounge is that the food isn't all that great anyway. The Flagship Lounge may well be nicer than the Admiral's Club, but it's still really only comparable to a domestic Qantas Club lounge in my opinion. Except for celebrity spotting. The Flagship Lounge is fun for that!

US airline lounges pale in comparison to anything you'll find in Australia.

When you have used the voucher, go back to the lounge desk and ask for another. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.

The LAX lounges are terrible and overcrowded, the staff are mean and the internet rarely works properly. Better off going somewhere like the daily grill, fork out a few dollars have a drink and a bite with some decent enough service and relax.

Hmmm ... softdrinks/soda's have never required a drink vouchers at A/C's IME. ?!?!

Aside from that, I generally stay as long as comfortably possible in T4 before heading to TBIT for 94/12/108.

I am actually looking forward to taking QF16 next year. :D

My main beef was the other Qf flights get a full service qantas lounge that can't be accessed when you are on qf 16.

I like the chips in the AA F lounge in T4. :)
In TBIT, i had to go to the korean airlines lounge once because i had something i needed to download...

That should be the case, but if you have a voucher in hand they will often "accept" it for such beverages.

Yes, but you have access to the Flagship lounge. I doubt you would stay at T4 if only having access to Admirals Club lounge.

But I assume you are not looking forward to (nor will actually use) the Admirals Club lounge.

I have come across anecdotes that they (at least used to) provide additional food in the T4 A/C before the antipodean flights.

In any case it is likely moot soon as I expect QF16 to be moved to TBIT when "Bradley West" is complete, and even if not, there will be an airside connector between the two terminals.

Yes I have seen some (limited) good service provided in the T4 AC prior to QF16.

Ie. A higher level of service than normally provided in the AC.

No doubt QF pays for it.

Think many would argue that the TBIT Qantas lounge aint that flash either. Maybe when the new one opens all will be different.

Think that qf16 will one day leave fromTBIT, can't really comment on the T4 AC as my WP gets me into the FL

Yes, the regular Admiral's club is pretty pitiful for food and drinks when compared to the QF Lounge in TBIT or other QPs, whether domestic or international. But I think this is due to AA, not QF.

Soft drinks like coke and house wines/beers should not require a voucher, though as others have said, if you have one in hand the bartenders will take it. You can get more from the desk, though.

Before I had access to the Flagship lounge, I have seen trays of sandwiches brought in for snacks before QF16 departure. I got the idea these were particularly supplied by QF.

Yes, they do, but its very basic and not really what would qualify as a meal.

its not a moot point for those of us who may need to travel LAX-BNE in the mean time.

I guess not - I did not realise you were had dropped from EXP ...

I am travelling this in April but as pointed out I have F/L access. The only loss for me would be "real" bubbles and reasonable cheese.

Yep, been Plat (Sapphire) this year and will be again next year also, with the slight possibility of getting back to EXP by the end of next year.
