Hi guys,

Just wondering if when you norminate family members for Qmiles accrual to your account (if it is 25% as burgundy) what happens to the other 75%? Do they keep 75% and you get 25% or...

What would the main point of this be?

Haven't flew QR yet but thinking about it, so just want to make sure the account is set up properly before booking anything/considering anything.

  • All Avios earned by family members are credited to the main member’s account.
  • Family members will earn the same number of Avios as the main member for all activities, with the exception of tier bonuses.
I'm guessing the 25% you're referring to is the earn rate for a discount economy fare.

Pooling Avios from family members is useful for consolidating earning into one account, especially if you have one family member who flies more than the others. It is a bit of a hassle to setup though.

would that then mean each family member still earns their own qpoints for tiering into their own account, and the pooling is purely for Avios only into the primary flyers' account?

Qatar sent an email saying they had made family pooling easier (hurray - no birth certificate uploads required !!)

However, they say that you can't add a member who is already a Privilege Club member ?? So if eg my parents have points in their privilege membership, I can't add them to a family pool ?

Seems bizarre if true - has anyone worked out the new family pooling ?

You can’t add existing family QRPC members to family/friends pooling

That's just crazy... so you'd have to forfeit their existing points to get them to join a pool ??
Yes, they can’t be Privilege members.
Personally the family/friends program is of no real interest as only Avios can be pooled and I can just points transfer between Mrs Jase and I when I need

Looks like there is a fee to transfer points ?

It appears I could create a BA family group and shunt the points into there for free pooling, but we all have to be at the same address - not sure if they would correlate the QR account address with the BA account address (if we were all at the same address for BA purposes)
