They planned to until the 787 fleet were grounded. The plans seem to have been put on the back burner since then

How unfortunate. It looks pure class.
Seems to be used to Europe at this stage (ZRH/MAN/LHR) and also India.
I'm surprised it's not being used on the JFK route ?
Need to find a way to try it out

It seems the QRs first 388 to start next year will have the same J cabin, I wonder if we will get that ?

you can try it DOH to JED on some days too, apparently.

Doubt they will send the A380 here. AFAIK they only have 5 on order or something and will go to Europe.

They also fly it on the DOH-DXB route. Or at least they did back in August when I flew on it. I think with intra Middle east flights the business class is called first class. Either way, we flew first class. The cabin is amazing and the flight was way too short to really enjoy the experience. (Okay, I know, that is definitely a first world problem!)

They initially deployed the 787 on DOH-DXB route, I was booked to fly it January this year. When I landed into DOH I also saw a 787 take off as we were taxiing, got to the gate for the DXB flight and last minute equipment change meant I had to fly a A320 :(

.. and then they grounded them! Still haven't flown on it

Definitely worth a try if you can

Cheers for the feedback all yes I was aware of DOH-DXB but would love to try this on a long-haul flight or even better an ultra long haul.
Looks like DOH-Europe (6-7 hours) will give enough time to test the bed with perhaps AA miles the best way to go about it.
Wonder what QR award availability will look like once it joins OW hmmmm....

you can already check QR availability using the BA website.

Dummy bookings as far ahead as October 2014 are still showing 777. So it looks like there are no imminent plans to bring the 787 to Perth.
