Most QantasLink destinations are $49 each way (ex-SYD). Good for some rural visits or cheap SC runs.

Places like CBR are $49 also, and it even includes normal QF services on this route.

Some interesting possibilities, ROK-TSV on two different flight numbers for $70.

Better if you book BNE-BKQ-BNE via LRE on the return - 35 SCs for the round trip at $98

Surely BNE-BKQ-LRE is the same flight - so you'd only get 15 SCs for BNE-LRE, rather than 20?

Not if you booked two tickets :

BNE-BKQ

Then BKQ-BNE which is why I mentioned Blackall in the first place.

I see - good call!

Shame it can't be done the other way - would be nice to stop for a bit n LRE and check out the Founders Museum. Might have to plan a trip there after August. :)

Founders museum is definitely on my list of things to do.

But living in Perth makes that a bit difficult :p

I'm thinking of booking 2 flights (so I can get 4 qualifying QF segments)

For example, can I just purchase, say, flight QF1111 , and then QF1112 for the return flight. I am assuming these are the same plane as the turn around is, say, 40minutes.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Looking at LRE for early October now, but what’s the accommodation like there, cheap/expensive?

Wotif suggests around $120 a night at the Longreach Hilton (Albert Park Motor Inn) or the Longreach Sheraton (Longreach Motel). HH or SPG benefits are not applicable :D

yup some very nice short hops to be had with this sale.

Looking at a quick SYD-CBR-SYD-CFS-SYD in August.

QF707 arrives in CBR at 0910... should be all good to make QF704 departing 0950? Would already have the BP's so I'd guess it would be ok?

40 minutes should be enough time

You would of course book this as SYD-CBR-CFS-SYD

It's more likely to be the same aircraft turning around, so yes, you should be OK.

Looking at at this, these book into Q class.

LRE has been on my to do list for some time.

I'm considering a trip to LRE Sat 13/ Sun14 November.

Code:
QF2532 BNE 13Nov 06:55 LRE 13Nov 08:55 DH4 Y9 B9 H6 K4 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 [B]Q9[/B] O9 X9 E0

QF2535 LRE 14Nov 16:10 BNE 14Nov 18:05 DH4 Y9 B9 H6 K4 M9 L9 V9 S9 N9 [B]Q9[/B] O9 X8 E0
I would need to book the last flight back to MEL at 19:10 on Sunday as the one booking (for protection due to shortish connection time).

ex MEL it's 50 SC for $405 ...

Mount Isa is also $49 from Townsville, handy if you have a need to go there for business but have not been able to justify the airfare for the amount of business you get, I have never seen it below $200 from TSV and $300 from BNE.

You could do one serious Crash 8 Crawl for a week, BNE-BKQ-LRE-BNE-GLA-ROK-MKY-TSV-ISA :)

I don’t think BNE to Glasgow to MKY is $49 on QantasLink ;) you might in fact be thinking of GLT :p

Are there any services from BNE that you can do all in the same day but different flight numbers for SC-accrual that anyone knows of? Sort of like what your saying, but in the same day.

This is my problem - I have a plan that works on paper but I can't get them all on the same PNR (multi-city). Which sucks because everything except LRE (which is only satisfactory) is not SC run rates, and adding $7.70 per pair of flights is ridiculous.

On top of this, if you choose to try these on the weekend your options become a lot more limited.

Great to fly if you want a joy flight or visit a regional centre, but for SC purposes they aren't great (although much better than any other AU domestic flight). Mind you, US-based YUP/HUP/BUP runs (both for *A and ow) aren't all that crash hot in comparison!

From today's paper:

Celebrate 4 years of QantasLink's quicker, quieter Q400 service.

Sale excludes: flights to/from/within WA and NT;
flights to/from Olympic Dam, Mount Hotham, Lord Howe Island or Moranbah; flights between Adelaide and Melbourne, Canberra and Melbourne and Brisbane and Canberra.

Sale Ends 5 March 2010.
Travel 14 July - 14 November 2010.

Provided you’re talking less than 10 flights here, having separate tickets with each an additional $7.70 doesn’t really worry me when I’m getting the flight for $49. I’ll just book them separately.

I’m personally looking at a Wednesday/Thursday in July, the week after I get back from the UK but before I head to NZ, and the week the cheap flights start :D Though later in the year would also suffice.

So what’s the plan?

Oh and you could also do a multi-city with a few flights that don’t connect (I did a BNE-SYD,MEL-BNE once) so that’d take the sting out of the $7.70 a bit!
