Qantas shovelling out points - sustainable?

I've found it easy to redeem points for long haul P/J - haven't had an issue burning >8M QFFP over the past decade... about 15% of that has been on QF metal.

Have 2 x P SYD-LHR-SYD in the tank and about to burn a truck load more for 4 x J BNE-HKG-FCO-HKG-BNE - availability is plentiful!

US Airways has been shovelling points out for years. I don't think its done anyone any harm.
