Qantas QF7 retimed to 11.50am departure from Sydney

Same thing happened to me for Feb 2025! Been trying to adjust flights on the website and app but no dice. Likely due to the system not finding similar availability for my J reward from SYD - DFW despite that not being the sector I want to change. Time to deep dive into the call centre. Going to have a hold music fever dream in the near future no doubt 😂

It makes all the difference when dealing with airlines, especially Qantas. A points ticket will only be accommodated by the next available point seats that are available if you’re lucky. A revenue seat can be accommodated by a new revenue seat which are far far far more numerous.

Qantas will often try to say "there are no more points seats"... That doesn't mean that is correct. It generally is not.

When people are filled with the right knowledge, it helps them get the correct outcome. Often that will require more work and stress than is needed unfortunately.

Hmm this retiming makes a same day connection from PER impossible, I previously did the 5/6am (depending on daylight savings) to connect through. Would actually work out quite well for time zone adjustment to crash in bed in the US after the late afternoon arrival, but I appreciate this makes it much easier if you're looking to end up anywhere other than Dallas. Qantas must have run the numbers and seen many people were connecting.
