Applied for this card on Saturday. Received a call today asking for another payslip. They also wanted to speak with HR, to confirm my employment details.
10 minutes after the call, I received an email and text saying I was approved.
Did they actually call your HR though?
That is surprising. I was going to get this card after dumping virgin's card but I'll probably just move onto anz Qantas insteadYep. HR manager took the call, but told them she'd have to check with me first before disclosing my information. Once she had my permission, she called them back. Afterwards the HR manager informed me that they were super thorough.
It's the first time that I recall a financial institution calling my employer.

Was going to apply for my wife, but given that information, I think I'll give it a miss. I'm not keen on employers being called regarding this information when the pay slips provide everything they need to know. Citibank really know how to keep me away from them!
