I’m interested in thoughts : over many years Qantas when flights are first released you can book limited flights with points !
looking at Hobart to Melbourne early new Year and absolutely nothing . Is this because peak time and Qantas are cashing in ?

well yes, that is a very peak time for travel

but be aware that the flights are released 355 days out, so early Jan 2024 have been "in the wild" for over 3 weeks already, so if you're looking now that may be a reason why that any limited seats may have been already snagged.

However a high demand travel time on a route with limited capacity it may well be that there wasn't much to begin with.
