In a move set to excite shoppers and travellers alike, Australia’s premium department store David Jones has announced a landmark loyalty partnership with Qantas Frequent Flyer. The partnership comes as the retailer prepares to launch its new world-class loyalty program, David Jones Rewards, later this year.
For the first time, David Jones shoppers will be able to earn and redeem either David Jones Rewards Points or Qantas Points, giving millions of Australians more choice every time they shop at the retailer’s 40 stores and online.
David Jones shoppers will be able to redeem their Qantas Points on a wide range of rewards across the Qantas Frequent Flyer program, including over 20 million reward seats, flight upgrades, hotel stays, and other travel perks. Over half of Frequent Flyers actively earning Qantas Points have done so with retailers in the last 12 months. Once launched, shopping at David Jones will unlock billions more points for members in the coming years.

It will be interesting to see whether the earn rates on this are better than the current 1 point per dollar spend on DJs via Qantas Shopping.

Fascinating. How long since Olivia Worth (ex Qantas Loyalty) went to Myer? You’d think this deal would be with Myer not DJs

A couple of years ago DJ changed card providers from Amex with QFF points to Latitude with only DJ points. We have since seriously considered dropping the card. (Closing any card is a big step when you are retired). May be few people have been doing this.

Previously DJ/Amex promotions always highlighted QFF as the main benefit. This was the main reason we succumbed once to a promotion.

With QFF points I may keep putting up with Latitudes clunky on line experience.

I suspect this announcement has come following Myer's recent announcements about major changes to their loyalty program later this year, which includes an expansion of Myer's partnership with Velocity.

I suspect we might see an increase in offers from Myer through 'card offers' based on how they acknowledge Qantas as a partner, but I don't think it would be anything more than that.

You might not have to put up with the clunky Latitude.CC.
The way I read the announcement, I think DJ is launching a new loyalty program along the lines of Woolies Everyday Rewards (choice of DJ rewards or QFF points) or better still along the lines of Accor ALL & HOYTS Rewards (where you double dip and earn both rewards and QFF points for each $).
