Qantas Oneworld phantom rewards

Resurrecting an old thread as I am currently experiencing phantom award availability...

Trying to book Cathay flights (a combo of premium economy from Europe to HKG, business to Australia) using Qantas points. Qantas, AA and BA websites show award availability for the required number of passengers yet can't book it online (comes up with an error). Call Qantas and they say no availability.

Can anyone confirm if this is likely the case and if not how one might end up booking the seats that are advertised as available across 3 different airline websites?

Interestingly Qantas said the same about a LATAM flight I was trying to book while getting the same online error message and yet I waited a few days and was able to book this online in the end!

Thanks!

We've had a whole raft of flights with CX cancelled lately. Perth to Hong Kong and Hong Kong to New York in business.

Even the Qantas CC line re-booked our outbound flights, onto flights we later found out from a Ticketing Agent at Qantas who called when she saw them, were cancelled. Even though we still saw availability online and flights existing on both the CX and QA websites.

A few days later, all the flights have disappeared and now shows no flights on the days we were meant to be flying. Might be a delay on reflecting fllight changes/cancellations on their websites.

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

So as expected, after finally getting through to the right person at Qantas they were able to work around whatever was creating the error and book the seats on Cathay. I wonder if less knowledgable/interested customer service agents just said they couldn't book after seeing the error rather than investigating further.

You might want to take care. We had a similar issue with Cathay. After 4 days of calls to Qantas they finally worked around this and rebooked us onto am earlier flight. All was ticketed and confirmed, then a day later we got a call from the Hobart QF ticketing team saying the CC rep booked us onto an "FX" flight, which means it is scheduled for cancellation. Even though qe range CX direct and they confirmed the flight exists, and it was showing on all airline platforms when searching routes!!

The QF ticketing lady had a heck of a time trying to Find us alternatives. Long story short, a CX PER to SFO flight with a 3hr transit in HK, flying with Cathay in Mid April, has turned into a QF flight to SIN with 8hr layover, then CX to HK with 2 day layover snd on to SFO.

A week later, that CX flight that we were re-booked on and "existed" according to everyone, even CX customer center have all been pulled and cancelled.

I've been trying to book some rewards flights on MU domestic flights and I seem to be getting the below error message. On the multi city search it's showing there's flights however when I proceed further with entering the passenger details, I am getting the below error message.

Not sure if these are phantom reward seats? Any thoughts?

I've tried different dates and also got the same error message.

Another poster had an issue with MU flights that were ticketed and then cancelled the next day as the seats were not available. Sounds like MU redemptions are broken.
