David Flynn (Executive Traveller) said:
While Qantas continues to rebuild its international network, New York could remain off the map until the launch of non-stop Project Sunrise flights in 2025.

Qantas flights to most North American destinations have resumed – among them Los Angeles, Vancouver (now promoted from a seasonal route to running year-around) and Dallas Fort Worth, which will see Melbourne-DFW join the current Sydney-DFW service in December 2022.

Not overly surprisingly here, although if JFK are still subject to "slots", I'd suspect QF are willing to give the 'slot pair' up and re-apply when Sunrise comes online in a few years (as IIRC JFK (PANYNJ) don't have leasing arrangements like at LHR).

None of this is news. The article says "could". Slow news day I guess.

JFK slot relief has been extended until October, and could well be extended beyond that. QF doesn't need to make a decision for ages.
