Gday All,
Heading to Fiji from Syd with a bit of luggage (surfboards etc). Flying economy. on a qantas ticketed and operated flight
I have Emirates Platinum. status. Will this count for anything with Qantas (baggage, lounge, prirotity check in?) or am i best to use QF Silver?
Thanks in advance for any help

EK platinum will give you equivalent of QF platinum.
But you won't be able to change it back to QF. The system will then automatically recalculate the excess baggage charge.

Welcome to AFF @Blue@
I have attached the QF policy on boards if you haven't already read it.
QF are very fussy about dimensions which is why daughter Surfer Flyfrequently ( a longboarder) flies Virgin, Garuda and others.
When she missed a connection last year and was put on a QF flight, telling them her boards were too big, it caused all sorts of issues and had to wait another day for a suitable flight.

Keen to hear where you plan to surf - enjoy!

Plan on doing a bit of wing foiling and surfing around Namotu, based out of Musket cove.
Still just confused on the qantas emirates partnership. This QF flight does have an EK number attached to it (I didnt buy the EK codeshare as it was 3 x the price)
Obviously with all this kit i was keen to try get an answer on baggage, check in etc,. I asked Emirates and they then said to ask qantas. The Qantas rep then said to ask at check in!

I wonder how they tell if you have multiple windsurfers v multiple surf boards?

Good idea to let them know about the surfboard in advance via Manage My Booking - Edit Passenger Details.

This has a section to nominate sporting equipment like skis, surfboards etc.

I’m nit even sure how they were able to price SYD-NAN as a EK flight number… EK wouldn’t have any traffic rights for that flight I’m guessing.

Your EK platinum will also give you access to thr Qantas first class lounge in Sydney.

Surfer Flyfrequently takes at least 2 boards and not sure if her husband takes any of his foiling gear. They will weigh the boards and oversize has xray machine- we use it for guitar.

@HirafuHeartAttack might have some knowledge on surf gear
