My wife, a long time QFF gold, returned from Sydney in Business on QF542 on 13 September. A dinner service consisted of a box of mixed cheese, crackers and a slice of bread. Other nearby passengers were offered similar or a bowl of soup. This is economy service and does not rate the standard of business. Does Qantas want us to change loyalty or loose premium patronage?

That sounds like they failed to load catering, and isn't even up to QFs Y dinner service. I would be submitting (clear and unemotional is best) feedback.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

This sounds like the food I got in QF J on a "supper" flight that left at about 9pm. They should have more on offer for a flight that leaves around 5.30pm.

And 542 is listed as a "Dinner" flight on the day I checked

You're correct, this flight is scheduled to operate with a dinner service.

So we can follow up with your wife, please send me a private message with her details as reference. Alternatively, she can get in touch with our Customer Care team directly via this form: Customer Care Form.

I wish QF J catering could be consistent. It has been getting steadily better over the past 2 or 3 years but just lately I have noticed it seems to have really dropped off again.

This sounds like the "All Day Dining" menu options - usually the soup, cheese box or a 3rd option, which is sometimes a salad or other "smaller" option. For shorter flights these aren't too bad.

I'm not sure what the OP's wife status has to do with the catering offered to all passengers? Sometimes one of the options can be out in J by the time they get further back in the cabin (eg row 3 on a 737). Gone are the days when the "status hop" was done I think, though nonrevs are offered last on a consistent basis.

I usually enjoy the soup option myself.

I tried a QF customer care form but the booking does not have a numeric and has been rejected.

Have you tried leaving out the booking reference? Alternatively, I'd be happy to pass on your details internally if you'd like to send me a private message.

Thanks Red Roo but your link was old. I went to Qantas website and successfully completed a customer care form. But 15 working days for resolution seems a bit extreme.

Dinner flights after 5:00pm now?

Had an op-up on QF544 2 weeks earlier and had choice of a curry or salad. Perhaps the wrong meals were loaded for business class that day.

I have contacted Qantas customer service twice since 13 September using the appropriate form. A notice was received that they would contact us within 15 days. So far after 23 days total silence. If they treat their long time gold ff this way what chance does a bronze passenger have?
