I just rocked out to Heathrow about the usual time for QF2 (8.30pm departure), 3.30-4pm, so I had time for some work, a shower, relaxation time etc, but the displays say that check in doesn't open until 5.35pm. There were a few other people looking blankly at the screens as well, wondering why we couldn't check in. There were no QANTAS staff in sight.

Has anyone else come across this? It seems to be different to what I have experienced over the past two years at least, where I have checked in at least 4 hours ahead of the departure time.

In the meanwhile I am checking out the Three Bells pub in T3 departures - maybe that is worth a separate report, the beer is ok but expensive.

QF has standard check-in windows before a flight. Particularly for ports outside Australia they would pay for contract agents so longer is more costly.

It is less apparent when several flights' check-in windows overlap giving the impression of earlier check-in opportunities since desks are often by airline/class not a specific-flight & class.

Perhaps a flight has been retimed if this looks different to your previous experience?

IME check-in at LHR T3 is usually open from about 4 hours prior to departure.
