Qantas getting into the NFT game

this is quite cursed. gotta cancel out the reduced emissions from all that new SAF & offsetting from green tier, eh?

Honestly though, NFTs have quite a bad rep and I really don't see this being net beneficial for Qantas unless they're able to raise massive amounts of money initially selling these NFTs. Even if their NFTs were genuinely "green", I don't see this being net positive PR for Qantas.

Really depends on how and which networks they're building it on. ETH is going to PoS which means the FUD about emissions will be unfounded.

Because NFTs are much more fun than, say, fixing your call centres so people can actually arrange to fly.
When the frequent flyer program is your cash cow and call centres are just a cost, then yeah. Maybe time for some new management, but shareholders aren't going to do anything because of aforementioned cash cow.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I doubt this will be a good way to get FF points or SCs but if it is as easy as green tier, maybe it will be worth a look. I have basically 0 interest in the actual NFT though

Perhaps QF should focus their IT efforts in fixing what's broken.

Secondly, their marketing department should actually understand what it is they are promoting.

Ummm...no. The artwork is NOT one of a kind at all. Total failure to understand what it means by the QF colouring in marketing department.

Yes because they are pointless. I had to check it wasn't April 1st already. Literally people trying to find a use for blockchain that makes money. I certainly would encourage people to not get involved. so many things Qantas needs to do and and this is not one of them. In fact its a sign, they need to sack some executives and get some new ones on board.

Oy Vey. I'm with the rest of you. They need to fix their core business before pissfarting around with the latest bandwagon item of NFT's and crypto/block chain imo. The bloody website needs so much work put resources into that for heaven's sake.

QF Management: get your core operations right then you can sit around mucking around with all this other cough. You might even make more money - if the core services are so much better.

Yet another example of Qantas' IT failures. They set up a neat April fools page this year but their darn content management system reckoned today was April 1. I'd say someone should get on the phone with Qantas to deal with this, but last I heard they are still rebooking Australians trapped during the Iran hostage crisis. Hopefully Reagan can rise from the grave to give those poor ol' agents a hand!

Sure, until your frequent flyers are no longer your flyers, frequent or otherwise because the airline can’t arrange a damn flight change. 🤬

But thankfully there will be NFT ( or, as I call them NFIs) for shareholders to play with.

I take a different view, when:

- the direct expense of creating these is likely negligible; and
- people continue to pay real money for these digital tulips

It's smart to sell them. I would do it myself if I knew what digital art to package up as an NFT and sell for McStupid money.

What even is their core business? The core business nowadays seems to be managing a master brand which they apply to anything and/or everything. in which case this fits.
