I'm a few wines in, so pardon any rubbish.. [a good signature, perhaps]

So as some of you may remember QFlink had a sale in response to VRegional's launch about 6 months ago.

I live in Melbourne, but decided to get on a $59 flight from BNE to Longreach.

Two nights here, and I do not regret it. The QFM is great. I would recommend it to many of you. The photos to the talking.

I tried to search for similar topics, no luck.

The big bird is a 747-200, retired in 2002. I did the $150, 3.5 hour platinum your and it was worth it. I was lucky to be one-on-one, though there's a maximum of 4 pax in peak season.

Of note to me was also the 707 on display, including a fascinating DVD to watch at the museum.

I had a tour guide called Trent and he was fantastic.

The $150 included a 6x4 printed photo, a full tour of both big birds, and wing walk on both. And a $9.95 lunch voucher, a great burger and chips costs $10.50, so it's useful.

I recommend this to all of you. Although I suspect many of you have heard all this before!

I will upload more photo on my train journey on the Spirit of the Outback tomorrow from here to Emerald. My first time there, too.

Any more pics of the interiors?

Looks fantastic actually...something I would want to do. Couldn't stop laughing at the clincher comment about the lunch.

Loved the photo of the movie screen, (crew carrying large movie cylinders and clicking them into the projectors, passengers' heads on the way of the screen, and out-of-sinc audio, compulsory lowering of the window shades as its now time for the movie!!), the fishnet shopping bags for seatback storage like we used to use to go to the corner store with, smoking zones, ashtrays in the armrests (which aircraft still have them huh? That's a thread in itself!!!)....ahh....blissful memories!

Wot? No island dining for the lunch voucher?! Harrumph! Whats going on here?

Seriously, looks great - would love to do the tour, and thanks for the pics.

Thanks so much for putting together a great review of the QFM.

It's been high on the Agenda for myself, but never quite managed to get out there as of yet.

Your review has certainly spiked my interest to head out to Longreach & check the QFM along with the Stockman's Hall of Fame!

Great photo's I must add, sounds like doing the VIP tour is well worth while.

Thanks again, for putting in the time to write the review!

looking forward to hearing more about your travels to Queensland's outback.

Looks like you had a great time, and soaked it all up. Always things changing there.

I always recommend people go to the QFOM (Qantas Founders Outback Museum). Well worth the trip and a great experience. I do have plans to do an AFF Do out there, either this year or more likely next year, perhaps getting a discount in the process for everyone. Just building up my contacts.

I attended a dinner out there last year I reckon could be replicated for AFF members.

Thanks for the report. Me and mrs eric are off to longreach for 2 nights next weekend so your report re tours was helpful

If you do get an AFF do happening out at LRE let me know. I'd love to visit the QFOM, but I very much doubt it would be something the missus would be interested in, and as such I doubt our holidays would ever go even close to that part of the country.

It is a great museum. I travelled out to LRE each month for 2 years, until 6 months ag,o due to a work project and took the time to do the aircraft tour one Saturday morning before the flight back to BNE. Just being able to walk around the 747 and the beautifully restored 707 was great. Thoroughly enjoyed it and the displays in the museum proper. One of the best small museums in the country.
