Am I imagining things? I am just doing some regular flight searches on Qantas website and the Qantas flight options are all appearing in time order before the Jetstar flights.... Amazing and Incredible!

Now that's a real enhancement...

Sorry... I was a bit too lazy to find old threads or see if others had already noticed this.

Thanks for posting. I have been searching for flights the past week or so and I haven't noticed.

I see the same thing for my ex-SIN searches as well. In addition to the Jetstar flights being sent to the bottom of the list, any flight combinations involving codeshares are also relegated to that section, leaving all QF metals at the top. It's still possible to sort the list by price, duration, etc, but once you do that, you won't be able to have the list sorted by QF metal again (without running the search).

Just checked flights to LHR and code share is in the middle of all QF Metal option.

Sort by:
  • Direct Flights
  • Price
  • Duration
  • Departure Time
  • Arrival Time

JohnK I knew you'd be particularly intersted in this. Let's hope it's a permanent change.
I have been doing a few searches since and JQ flights are still littered throughout the display so not quite an enhancement in the true sense of the word.

I know I am asking for too much but I do not want to see any JQ flights. Wasting valuable flight options to display on JQ flights.

It seems the QF and JQ separation is only valid on Domestic flight enquiries.

Do searches for business fares still include Y segments?

As in ¨* small notice: the Sydney to New York sectors of your MEL-NYC business class flight will be in economy¨

Just noted on Dom flight search Y and J cabin classic availability is now included on the 1 screen with the Y and J fare families
Well done, total mix and match avail on 1 page. I don't expect they could get 4 cabins and Classic on a page. But then again there isn't too much avail for classics in J /P anyway

The website has been doing that for some time. And depending on the route, also shows F.

I believe Qantas is a subsidiary of Jetstar.

Searching for award flights on 02 Dec BKK-SYD in economy and I am offered JQ flights to SIN or MEL with connection on QF to SYD but also offered EK or CX to HKG and then QF or CX to SYD.

Searching for award flights on 03 Dec BKK-SYD in economy and I am offered 20 choices of JQ30 to MEL with a connecting QF flight to SYD. Seriously?

Searching for award flights on 04 Dec BKK-SYD in economy and I am offered JQ flights to SIN or MEL with connection on QF to SYD but also offered EK or CX to HKG and then QF or CX to SYD.

On closer inspection on 03 Dec the EK flight BKK-HKG in economy has no awards. Fair enough. But displaying 20 options with the same JQ flight is misleading and a joke. Looking at individual sectors there is availability on UL and CX to HKG and then QF and CX to SYD for the same cost as the days either side.

Extremely disappointing Qantas. Don't want to fly JQ. Don't want to see JQ flight options. Actually I wouldn't know too many people who would want to see JQ flights under these circumstances. Why treat customers this way?

How could a Dom flight search show F?

Yes. Annoyingly. At the very least there should be a check box to screen them out.

The trouble is (in theory) is that it needs to be more complex than just screening out mixed class awards. Need to show the ones that have short haul Y but still have long haul J (haha though in practice that scenario is extremely unlikely).

Not necesssarily. With the check box approach you could uncheck/check the box as appropriate to see those mixed sector options.

Yes but ultimately still leads to unnecessary "noise" in the booking engine. What most (granted not all, but the vast majority) want to see, if looking for flights from MEL to LAX in a premium cabin (to use but one example), is availability of MEL-LAX (J) or MEL-SYD (any cabin) + SYD-LAX (J) or even MEL-BNE (any cabin) + BNE-LAX (J). Having the check box will help easily identify the MEL-LAX (J) seats but won't help in picking the MEL-SYD(Y)-LAX(J) flights from MEL-SYD(J)-LAX(Y) flights. I guess the easiest way is to have the check box, and do multiple searches from MEL, SYD & BNE without the box ticked.

While we're at it there should also be a chekcbox for "Do not show me any JQ 3K GK or JM rubbish.".
