Hi Guys, This is my first post so be easy on me. I have been trying to book an RTW flight with QFF on line but without much success. I have read elsewhere on the net that this can't be done online True/False?
As I need to book tours over Europe I thought I'd try booking a return to London as a starting point instead. After some difficulty with dates and different classes, after requesting Business or First, I got back from the site SYD-MEL-LHR return for two people 400K points and $1791 in fees and charges with the only sector Business from SYD-MEL with the rest Economy. Can this be true??? I might as well dump my million points and pay for a seat that I can book for travel when it suits me. Am I doing something wrong or is this typical for the QFF program?

That's definitely too high.

From memory (more experienced members will no doubt correct me) I think it's about 144k return in Business.

You may also like to look at a OneWorld Explorer (a round the world ticket) which is 280k per person in J and 560k per person in F. There is a dedicated thread on it, but generally speaking it needs 3 or more OneWorld carriers.

Lots of info here to get good bang for a million points!

The One world award is 140k in economy 280k in business. You can book it online. It needs to include two airlines other than Qantas (in fact I don't believe it has to include Qantas). It can't however include Emirates because they are not one world.

One of the glitches of the QF award booking engine is to offer long haul business award when only the domestic sector has business availability.

Have you checked availability for the dates you want? It could be that award flights have already been booked in premium cabins.

Its 128k one way in business and 64k in ecomony so definitely not right for 2 returns to be 400k for economy.
Two business return Syd-LHR should be 512k.

The T&C's allow for the whole trip to be priced at the rate of the highest cabin even if only one leg (the shortest) is in the highest cabin.

Perhaps it is pricing as a combination of partner award and classic award.

Thanks for advice peoples! It is hard to find out information via Qantas so I am glad I joined the forum already!

my suggestion? let qantas do the work for you!

it costs nothing to make an enquiry via the call centre... ask them to get you to London (or somewhere else) and back. write down their suggestions then book on line.

no fee to you and saves you searching a million options!
