Qantas extends status extensions until end June 2023 (previously December 2022)

Definitely on AFF, here's the link:

Nice. I would like to do something like that to press towards LTG, but I doubt my family would approve.

I might do something like that on a smaller scale to get back to WP. Though if the next DSC does international I may just book DSC return J to the UK to get WP back.

If QF extends status again I would feel less urgency to do any of those.

That's not accurate. Not everyone has had the ability to do a full 12 months of travel to earn their status. Folks in WA for the most part can't travel.
Here in NZ we can really only fly domestic. Unfortunately JQ flights don't count towards the 2700 QF flights needed for p1.

Fair enough too with all the borders open and things returning to a better normal. Maybe everyone will just get status booster credits or something for a leg up…
I would prefer it they returned to booster credits rather than straightforward extensions as at least with these you can still edge towards lifetime status. I really don't think Qantas will bring back booster credits though - probably for that reason.

Another round of booster credits would be great. I would think multiple DSC promos would be more likely.

QF giving out everything.
Booster credits, Gold status to other airlines refugees in 3 seperate occasions, DSC also x3, extensions so no doubt they'll keep giving.... Also keep giving their most ordinary call centre service.

Any idea when the status is being extended? My year ends at the end of January and I've booked and flown my renewal flight (classic flight reward) in late September. The app stills says "23 days left to retain".

End of January.

Outside of any extensions, to requalify for Gold in addition to earning the SCs you usually have to fly 4 eligible flights on Qantas or Jetstar - i thought this included classic rewards on QF metal, but my eligible flights are not including recent reward flights, has something changed?

Not normally.
Maybe for Points Club if they're lucky, but apart from that, classic rewards normally don't count as an eligible sector.

When flying indirect both ways you can get 4 flight segments on one trip e.g. MEL-SYD-OOL return. Or a couple of MEL-SYD return trips would also do it. Just need to make sure the different legs are on different flight numbers and/or different days.

QF9 MEL-DRW-LHR only counts as one flight segment.

So if you have a huge points balance to burn through the amount of cash flying needed to get to 4 flight segments is not that difficult still.

Yes i only need 2 more and have 6 months to do it, wont be a problem but if it counted classic reward fllights i would have been done today. Still hoping for another extension for July anniversaries, indirect domestic trips not practical for me during pandemic and work travel still constrained.

Travel is certainly not back to normal and I think a further extension for the July - Dec folks (like myself) is warranted.

I was meant to have a trip for work to the US for a gathering. Being in PER it was going to be dicey as I would have needed to delay my return by over a week to make it in after the 5th Feb border opening. In the mean time with Covid rampant world wide the gathering has been postponed till mid year.

Having to cancel flights to Cairns and from Broome this month, I am now just below achieving the bonus status credits this anniversary year. Which I can delay choosing until my anniversary rolls over! Those 50SC might well be needed in the next 12 months, so is it worth booking an unnecessary return trip? The problem, of course, is that it has to be intrastate and only Kalgoorlie seems to have a business class flight that I require one way.

Well, I got a end of Feb changeover so am planning on booking A tic in the next sale for sometime in mid June in case it needs get cancelled. Hopefully by then we are opening up for good and that this current wave will have washed through.
