Qantas Cruise - Hidden Payment Fees

Note for future booking through Qantas Cruise online:

The website advertises NO credit card fees when you book online with Mastercard or Visa (2% on Amex).

However.. during the online booking process, it gives you an option to pay in full or pay $375 deposit.
If you choose the later, there is a catch with the credit card fees.
You will receive an email stating the below:

Where does it advertise "NO credit card fees"?

Everything I've ever seen on it is in line with the above. This includes in their terms and conditions i.e.
Fees, Payment Methods and Cruise Line Terms and Conditions | Qantas

They actually seem more upfront about it than some other sites, including having all the options/fees called out when you go to book, plus have the benefit of no fees on initial payments which others don't have.

I only read the small print on the main page where it says "2.00% surcharge will apply for payments by Amex. A surcharge may apply for other card payments." and then went straight to the payment page to test Mastercard/Visa and had no auto generate CC fee.. so i assumed it was all good to go.




I never said Qantas Cruise was bad, this was a friendly note in case someone else did the same and went straight to booking the cruise. I actually like how interactive the online portal is compared to other sites.

If you did make the same mistake and paid for the deposit only, you can call them up and explain you had no idea about the CC charge on remaining balances and they will give you an option to pay the full amount on the spot without a fee.
