Qantas comping WP...?

Hi All,
Been a long time between posts. Curiosity question, I only earned 135 SC’s this year. Anniversary date was yesterday and I was expecting to be dropped back to Gold. Logged in and see I’ve retained platinum. I know there used to be a 3 year average unwritten rule but given my travel was so light this year I don’t think I would’ve met that threshold...
Anyone else in the same boat today?

I don't like the 120,000 QFF offer. Same if you've done 100 SCs or 1100 SCs which is not right.

Agree. If points comp is offered it should be proportional to the number of SCs earned. The current system encourages pax who know they can’t make WP in one year to fly BFOD. It’s bad for QF and for pax who do manage pass SG but not quite make it to WP.

Agreed but it works in my favour - I can easily accrue another 120,000 points without doing a status run

I might have some fun today. Sorry…Be proactive and request to be comped WP for nix. I have no flights booked between today and 31 January 2020. Genuinely interested to see if Humans are running the show or if the Komputa says give me 120K points.

How much are you flying beyond 31-Jan-20?

To me re-qualifying is mostly about how much you anticipate to do in the next qualifying period. If you have a fair amount ahead of you - I'd be doing a short hop to be certain of maintaining WP. If yo anticipate not much - leave it be.

For 10SC I would just do a flight somewhere. Grab a quick trip to SYD and use points the most expensive leg.

Save the goodwill for when you really need a favour.

I got a free comp of Platinum when my membership year turned over on April 2019. Some of you might remember my post about having to cx trips due to my father's death and then family support. This left me quite a bit short (around 450 SC short) for the year. I was offered the 120,000 point upgrade, but firmly declined. In my circumstances, it was not a good offer.

I asked outright for a comp on compassionate grounds. Pointed out that I have been a very loyal customer - many years as WP, and 3 years as P1 with (at that time) over 29,000 LT SC. They said they would think about it. I honestly did not expect to hear back. But I got a phone call 3 days later saying they would comp me for the coming year, which they did although I had to chase up getting my new WP card sent (it did not eventually arrive until July). I have already achieved 1210 SC this membership year, so effectively I have returned to my usual flying pattern. I hope they see that this 1 year of "kindness" has contributed to my continuing loyalty. Otherwise, with only LTG membership, I was ready to spread my wings elsewhere.
