Seems quite normal. The last few times I looked at QF codeshares (Jetstar, China Airlines to Taiwan etc) the privilege of the "QF" code has been noticeably more expensive that booking direct with the operating carrier.

Is it possible to ask Qantas for more details (why?!) of the Q carrier surcharge of $500 per flight?
