Sorry if this has been mentioned before but was about to pay my corporate QC membership today when I noticed that it has increased from $215 to $310. This is a very large increase even for the big Q. Has every one else woth corp memdership copped the same increase?

Also, can you put your QC membership on hold for 12 months? I am taking a year long sabbatical to drive around OZ and will have no need for the QC so would be great to save the $310 then recommence in 12 months without having to pay joining fees?

Hope everyone has a SAFE and happy Easter. If you are driving, please take care. We lose at least 50 aussies every year not to mention the injured and destroyed families.

Not corporate - just regular membership - but the answer was a big fat NO for me when I returned to work after maternity leave.
I had the option of repaying the joining fee for a full year or paying the renewal fee (3m from memory) for the remainder of my year. A big disappointing ripoff no matter which way you look at it - so I'm currently without QC :(

The Corporate Qantas Club through AFF has not changed since 1st Feb 2011 and I have not been advised of another change at this time.

From my experience in processing the QC memberships it is not possible to put it on hold however the joining fee is cheaper than a years membership so that is obviously better than paying the year and wasting the membership.

My corporate Qantas Club annual fee went up from $215 to $300 so am feeling the same pain here.

Not sure what the justification of the almost 40% increase in price is?

If I ever drop below Gold I know it’s going to be a shock to see the renewal amount for QP compared to what it cost when I joined!

Given how cheap the $215 was versus rack rate, I expect thats why.
The AFF rate (as far as I understand it) is still much higher!

Assume you are with a big Aussie corporate or government??
(From memory I last had a $2xx rate in 2004 before turning gold with a large international financial org)

Just checked again and it's now $308.10 so it looks like a 43% price hike.

I guess that mushroom pizza doesn't come cheap...

Someone has to pay for the pancake machines! :)

Heh, sorry, an insensitive comment. I does seem like quite a hike!

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Do they still offer lifetime membership? Good for long term travelers. Do it in one go through your employer as some kind of salary sacrifice?

Nope. The closest thing is LTG.

Which you can't buy..... NB: you can buy in a way, but through virtue of flying a lot of flights! It can only be earned.

FWIW I bought a LT membership just before they killed it, I think it was around 2006 some time.

So I got my reminder email today to renew for an October 2012 expiry
and was shocked to see an increase (corporate) from $275 for 1 yr to
$372 for 1 year.

How can QF justify a $100 increase, considering a loss of benefits, when taking
loss of BA lounges into account. The media releases indicate that QP access to
EK lounges will only be for DXB (and not for example CDG/IST) unless I've got
Something wrong?

I will be flying more next year than this year (all self funded leisure) so will probably
keep QP but it does seem like a large increase considering loss of benefits, in addition
to not even being given NGCI tags!

That's exactly why they do it... because people will have a similar attitude to you unfortunately and just stump up the extra! If people still pay it, why wouldn't you keep demanding more ;) (PS. not having a dig at you here!!)

I guess I'm not looking forward to the day I can't attain even Gold anymore, but at least I have some banked QP to get through before then. Not sure it'll be worth much by then though (even though surely it should be worth the conditions I agreed to when I bought it).

I had a 2 month gap between when my QP expired, and commencing a trip (in J) where my status was going to rapidly jump from bronze to platinum within 2 months or so. I did however have 4 or 5 flights in between. I elected to renew QP because I figured that I would use it on those flights, and while there is a risk the benefits could be eroded, I was going to have 22 months membership at today's prices ready to kick in should I drop below Gold in the future. A risk, but a reasonable one IMO. It was also useful at British airports on BA (prior to all those nasty changes) when I was still either silver (these were side trips in Y) or did not have a card with me other than the QP card.

Of course its all supply and demand. Still, the renewal is 35% more than last year when the product/service offered is no better, and in some ways devalued from last year (BA lounge access). But considering planned travel will probably renew it again, just find it a steep increase

Oh don't worry, I'm not disagreeing with you at all (especially so coming from someone who has QP Life :() ; such is the nature of the beast unfortunately. Pay more, get less....

Does membership with AFF get you any discount on Qantas Club application?
If not, what is the latest way to obtain discounts on Culb membershi9p joining?
