Qantas caught in Iran plot

True, but ebay (don't know much about gumtree) doesn't sell too many 747's. :p

Will probably depend on who Qantas believed they were selling them to. If they knew it was Iran (unlikey), well then ...

According to the version I read qantas has said they had various clauses in the contract to cover future "illegal" use. It seems to me the media are running a beat up and ignoring keg words like contractually covered and good faith.

I know you're joking, but I wonder how much work you'd need to do to convert the bottom of a 747 into cargo doors for what you're describing :p

Too much. Surely using that 5th engine pod spot as an external mount would be a simpler option.

I imagine that the sale of a 747 has greater implications than a car. There would be export restrictions on any such product. Much the same I would guess as an arms export sale requiring an 'end user certificate' to verify they weren't going somewhere they shouldn't.

Hence QAN would be required to do due diligence.

totally agree...does this mean that when i sell something on ebay/gumtree/etc....I AM RESPONSIBLE/IMPLICATED IN HOW THE BUYER CHOOSES TO USE THAT PRODUCT??? :confused:just another example of a media beatup/windup

ignoring the legalese altogether I would think that QF would have taken into consideration potential impact to the brand from future owners of the aircraft - ie terrorists getting their hands on your used-747 is not going to read well no matter how you twist the fine print in the contract...
