I received this entirely underwhelming offer this month.

It would take a lot more than a 10% discount to entice me to waste points in the store.

It seems to me there is a huge mismatch between what Qantas offers and what frequent flyers want.

Offers which would have interested me would have included:

  • discounts on points required for award flight bookings;

  • discounts on the copayment ("taxes and fees") when redeeming points for award flights (a waiver would be too much to hope for!);

  • a double status credits offer;

  • a chance to earn status credits on award flight bookings;

  • a free birthday one class upgrade (full economy to business or business to first).

I'm curious as to what offers other frequent flyers would find enticing.

Would you have taken up any of the offers I was sent?

Any in my list?

Or do you have your own list?

This is not just a Qantas disconnect, many marketing teams do not understand their customers.
I had one from Dollar rental cars yesterday, get $30 of any monthly car rental, no I am serious, what brain surgeon thought this was attractive to customers
And more
Qantas Golf Club etc

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Really, you're having a whinge about a birthday offer? As a very frequent flyer, you're should know we get it really good on QF (and yes, I'll even concede on VA) esp with your Platinum minted status.

I wasn't having a whinge. My point was that they offered me something in which I have no interest.
Which means the offer fails from their point of view, both as a customer relationship exercise and as an enticement to burn some of my points.
I wasn't expecting a birthday offer, and I don't mind passing on things in which I have no interest.
I'm happy continuing to save points for flights for family members.
(And looking at the link to the other thread, I am not alone in my opinion.)

I get a free Nandos meal on the week of my birthday - definitely no complaints there!
